I'm so happy to announce that I am pg with my 4th child. I am even happier to announce that my ob said that without any serious complications like placenta previa or placenta accreta, that we are going to plan for this to be a VBA3C!
A little history: my first child was truly an emergency c-section. My second child was a bit late and the dr (not this one) was nervous so we had a scheduled c-section. I was young and stupid. :) With the third one, we were all set to go for a VBA2C but I had preterm labor and my ob was out of the state. I ended up getting bullied and threatened into another unneccessary section. :( My ob feels horrible about it. He and I both filed complaints with the hospital on the on-call dr and she no longer works there.
So when I went into the ob office the other night, I felt such a sense of dread. My last two sections resulted in complications for me (one I had endometritis and was hospitalized without my newborn for 5 days and the other my wound became infected, reopened and didn't heal for over 3 months). I knew I wanted a VBA3C but frankly had little to no hope. I didn't even have the words to bring it up. But my ob brought it up for me! He was very honest and said that he hasn't had a VBA3C yet in his practice but attributed it to women not wanting to try and being scared. He said that I am still a candidate so long as I don't have placenta previa or accreta. He said he still had regrets about missing my delivery (he was in touch with the hospital but they told him I was being discharged, while being discharged my water broke and they never called him to let him know the situation changed) and he called the section again unneccessary.
My due date is 6/18.
Woohoooo!! :)

Thanks! I'm so happy because in my state (NJ) it is illegal for medical personnel to attend a HBAC and it seems that homebirth is usually the way to go with having a successful VBAMC. I'm not comfortable going unassisted even with 2 hospitals within 5-10 min. Prior to this discussion with my ob, my plan was to arrive pushing. Actually that is still my plan but I feel more supported. :)
OMG! I'm so thrilled for you!! I hope everything goes perfectly!!!!!
I'm having a VBA3C, too. I hope I can find a supportinv midwife, but if not, I will be having a UC.
Good Luck!!
Yay! I can't wait to hear all about your VBA3C!!! Def. keep us updated and CONGRATS!!!
That's so awesome! What a great-sounding doctor ^_^ Wish more were like him! Congratulations on your pregnancy, too!
