Did anyone else read this article in the new issue of Mothering? It was awesome!! If you haven't, I highly recommend it. There's an (external) self-massage technique they share, and according to the article, it can help with a ton of things. BUT the best quote was this:
For women who have had a cesarean, we can promise better arterial supply to the pelvic organs, better venous drainage from the legs up, less bache, less sciatica, less fluid congestion, and a better possibility for a VBAC. ~ Dr. Rosita Arvigo
How awesome is that!! And the massage is so easy. Judging from the description of a how a labor might go if you have a displaced uterus, I think I might have one. And the massage can help move it back into its proper position.
* You can't do this if you're already pregnant, though.*

This was a topic one night at our Monthly Meetings with the ALaska Birth NEtwork.
There is a lady here locally that does this.
Oh neat, I'd love to find a professional! I've been doing it myself according to the way they describe it in the article, but I'm sure it would be better by an actual massage therapist. It sounds so incredibly beneficial (not just for people who've had a c/s)...I'm so glad I read that article! It didn't sound too enticing from the description on the cover, as it says it's for infertility (which isn't a prob I have)...but that's just one of the things it's helpful for.
I've had it done twice - the difference after one session was absolutely amazing!! And I mean just that!!!! The hard thick scar tissue that I could feel at the pubic bone was GONE!! Until then (1+ years after my 2nd c/s) I had not been able to play on the floor with my boys. I wasn't able to lay on my stomach without it hurting. I wasn't able to exercise without feeling aching (not muscle hurts but that feeling after the c/s when you put on something that 'fits' and leave the house in it realizing about 1.5 to 2 hours down the road that you've made a desperate mistake and there is nothing you can do to fix it...) - that went away too. I've been again and I know it has don't good - although she told me she can't even get to the uterus yet because of the scar tissue... so, it is a very good thing!
Problem here - she is two hours away. So, I need to get a copy of that magazine and start doing it myself!
Tammy who does it here? Anybody have a copy of the article?

For those of us without access to the article... if you go to http://www.arvigomassage.com/ you can search for your closest provider! That is how I found mine and I love her! :)

This sounded so neat that I got in contact with the closest administer of the MAM to me so I'm scheduled to do it in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited to try it out!
