We are very excited.... it took me a long time to be comfortable trying to conceived because I was soo dead set against another c-section. I had a hard time finding a doctor who would allow me a VBAC. I think I found the last group in my area to allow one.
I have been in this group for quite a while.. and now that I am pregnant and I have the vbac planned, I want to ask if anyone out there has had a successful vbac who had a similar situation to mine.
I've read the stories and alot of them were due to breech presentation. I labored for 19 hours, was fully dialated and at the pushing stage. I pushed three times before the doctor told me I had to stop and they had to take her out. I pleaded with her because I felt I could do it, she agreed and then looked back at the team getting ready to descend on me and prep me for surgery and changed her mind. The doctor lost her notes on why my c-section happened. (when I push the subject at the follow up visits after the birth, they told me I was postpardum depressed and dismissed me). She said she "thinks" it was because my daughter's head was too large for my pelvis... but she couldn't be sure that that was the reason.... this I find hard to believe... since I'm not a small woman, and I come from a line of woman that have lots of kids in their lives... my grandmother had 7, my other grandmother had 6... my mother had three all of which were 9 pounds, with the last being 10.5 pounds when born. Not to mention the doctor checks out your size well before to see if there's an issue and no issue was raised about the size of my pelvis, so I think this could not be the right person she is remembering.
All we know is from what we were told at the time. My daughter's heart rate was dropping with each contraction/push... and my heart rate was really low. I was induced after being a week late and the pitocin was possibly too much for me, because I could no longer handle the contractions and decided on an epidural even though I was scared to death of having one, due to my crooked spine. (my sister was there and she saw my contractions on the monitor and said they were off the charts huge). Anyway, I had the epidural and I think they might have given me too much if that is possible because all I remember is being really out of it after that.... especially when they made me wait to push.
I would love to read a story of someone who had a vbac after a similar story. I'm ok with having a trial by labor because that's what I did before essentially, but I really want to have a succesful vbac and I'm trying to prepare myself so that I can do everything possible to have that.
im sorry my csection was not like yours but i wanted to say with my vbac i pushed for 2 hours due to my son being sunny side up then turning and coming out sideways.. so after 3 pushes it didnt seem like they even gave you a chance and im sorry. Good luck and im sure you can do it!
You can have a VBAC. Seems like maybe your OB had a "Date" so you were sectioned.
well the three pushes was over the course of like an hour and a half ... it seemed like an eternity they made me wait. I think they were waiting for the baby to deliver itself... I mean if the baby isn't responding well to contractions, doesn't that mean that the doctor needs to try to reposition the baby or me so that things improve. none of that was tried beyond having me go on my side for a while.
I had a bad feeling about this doctor, she was the only one that I hadn't met because of some experience on her resume that I didn't agree with. when I found out she was the one that would be there I tried to make the best of it.
I'm really hoping that somebody had a c-section their first time for similar reasons and went on to have a vbac. Since it's a mystery as to why my daughters and my heart rate dropped, it's hard for me to know how to avoid that this time.
