21 Things to Recycle

This is from an article on coopamerica.org.  21 things you may not have known you could be recycling.  Here is the intro:

Garbage.
Americans produce more and more of it every year, when we need to be
producing less.
Even the most waste-conscious among us can feel overwhelmed by the amount of
household waste that goes beyond what municipal recyclers and compost bins
can handle.
That's why our editors have spent the summer investigating the state of waste
management in our country, and putting together information for you, our
Co-op America members, explaining how we can get serious about the three R's –
reducing, reusing, and recycling. Supporting members of Co-op America can
expect to receive this issue of the Co-op America Quarterly this fall. If
you're not already a supporting member, _join us now_
(http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404745/0/) to get this special issue mailed to you.
Thanks for all you do for people and the planet.
Here's to closing the waste loop,

Alisa Gravitz

1. Appliances: Goodwill accepts working appliances, _www.goodwill.org_
(http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404746/0/) , or you can contact the
Steel Recycling Institute to recycle them. 800/YES-1-CAN,
_www.recycle-steel.org_ (http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404747/0/) .

2. Batteries: Rechargeables and single-use: Battery Solutions, 734/467-9110,
_www.batteryrecycling.com_
(http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404748/0/) .

3. Cardboard boxes: Contact local nonprofits and women's shelters to see if
they can use them. Or, offer them up at your local _Freecycle.org_

list.org_ (http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404750/0/) . If your
workplace collects at least 100 boxes or more each month, _UsedCardboardBoxes.com_
(http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404751/0/) accepts them for
resale.

(http://lists.coopamerica.org/t/1335856/401205/404760/0/) pays $1/each.

My 7 year old is so proud of the $8 he just earned turning in aluminum cans at Can World.  He doesn't let anyone throw away cans now that he knows he can recycle them for a little bit of cash!  He just also received his very 1st wallet.  He's so proud to show folks that he has paper money in his wallet!

I am blessed in the fact that I was raised to Recycle and I help women everyday see how small changes can make a big impact on our world.  If you need more help with recycling or would like to know how you can make a big difference with just a few changes in your life let me know.

I work for the original "green" company....Tupperware.  We now carry a new line called TupperLiving.  Let me show you how to clean without using anything other than our microfiber line.

Just wanted to put in a word for Tupperware!  I purchased the lunchbox sets and we are very happy.  They are made with PBA-free plastic and we don't have to use so many plastic ziplocks for lunches now.  I'm not sure if they are still available for purchase . . . but the PBA-free plastics are a great way to GREEN up lunches!  Less waste in the school/work trashcans!
