I'm looking into all of the programs out there and would like to get some input from others ... please tell me why you did or didn't choose a program.  Thanks!  : )

I know it can be overwhelming looking into all the doula organizations. Have you been to alldoulas.com yet?

I was deciding between BAI, CBI (childbirth international) and ALACE (which is now tolabor.com)

I choose Birth Arts International for a few reasons:
They offer both distance learning and workshops.
The doula trainers are trained in wise woman herbal.
BAI models holistic midwifery approach. I feel that most mainstream doula organizations are very medical.
BAI doesn't pressure you to certify.
BAI does not "prohibit or frown upon" you attending births in any setting and they encourage the use of essential oils during labor.
The cost for the progam is cost effective.

GOOD LUCK!
