Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little about the idea behind this group. My name is Nichole. I am married and have a 13 month old daughter named Karma. I was raised by hippie parents (think Abbie and Larry from Dharma and Greg) I have a very good sense of self and do not feel the need to dwell on myself. I like to listen to music that makes me happy however I dont want to be defined by what I like. I am a firm believer in pausing and taking a deep breath before I say something.
I was hoping to start a group that is nonjudgmental, enjoys peace, has respect for the earth and all its Creatures (this includes humans) We can talk about anything from making hemp necklaces to raising our kids. The only rule here is peace.

  • Hi all, my name is Daphne and I am an almost 30something mother of 4, ages 11, 8, 6 and 4.  I just joined cafemom about 30 seconds ago after seeing it advertised on myspace, saw the 'peace lovin' tree huggin' group and just knew that that was one group I had to check out.

Besides being a mom I am, well, a thinker.  I like to try new things, learn new skills. I knit and or crochet every day and I am currently learning to play the piano when I have the time.  I LOVE learning and have a thirst for knowledge.  I'm trying to raise my babies to be free thinkers, to love themselves without having to lable themselves, and to have a love for the planet they live on and the other beings on it, man and otherwise.

I've also been married for 5 years now to a wonderful man.

Um, I think thats it, lovely to meet you all!!

  • Hi there!  I'm Leslie Duncan (think back up singer from Dark side of the moon! - thanks dad!)  and I was raised in an interesting family.  My mother was southern baptist and dad had religion shoved down his throat, so my brother and I were just left to kind of figure stuff out.  When I was 13 Dad worked for a Jewish school, so I learned about another culture and heritage.  Coming from smalltown tx (only 33 in our grad class) that was a really neat experience for me.  I'm still not sure how I managed to be "me" but out of them all I managed to come to Dallas and have lived such a free-spirited life since then.  Somewhere along the way, I decided to think for myself and it is so funny to see the conservative family with their hippie liberal daughter.  I always joke that I want to be just like Elyse Keaton!  My daughter's name is Zoe Reese, Greek for life and Welsh for Fiery.  I thought that fitting because I wanted her to have a great passion for being alive, like me.  She's also an Aries and I thought that would fit in to her astrological chart!  I'm a hypnotist and will be attending classes this fall to teach hypno-birthing.  I work out of my home, so anything I can do while wearing my birkenstocks and hippie skirts, is great for me!  :)
    Peace!

  • hi all.  I'm a 50 year old with 2 teenage stepchildren who reside with us every other week.  I love nature.  I have followed Christianity all my life but believe  there is a way of weaving the earth based beliefs with many of the Christian beliefs.  I know this sounds strange but I love talking to the flowers in my garden and the birds in the trees.  All of nature, including humans, is a miracle to me and should be respected and taken care of  the best we can.  New to Cafemom.
