Hi, I'm in my early thirties and I have a three year old daughter. I also have a hard time finding other moms who share my taste in books and movies. I'm more likely to watch an old Star Trek episode on the sci-fi channel than I am any of the popular prime time shows, lol. I play FFXI and I used to play D&D, I wish I still had the time for D&D actually.

Those are all favs at my house too,
Welcome to this little corner of cafe mom. We're pretty small at the moment. I hop around a bit visiting the two other fanstasy and sci fi sites I have found on here as well. I hope you enjoy discussing things with us. |

Hi! I'm new to Cafemom. I'm really glad to find a group that likes Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Most people look at me like I'm nuts when I mention anything genre related.
I'm 39 and have three kids. Ages 13, 7 and 2. I've been playing/DMing RPGs (D&D mostly) since I was 14 or so. Still get a game in once in a while. Even played Neverwinter online. I collected comics for a long time. I get the occasional book squeezed in here and there. Sue |

Welcome,
We are small but hopefully mighty. I have always beena fantasy ans sci-fi fan even as a small child and always gravitated towards those types of movies, tv shows, and books. I am not very good at video games, so I don't play many of those but I do watch my husband play and know a bit about the lingo. I have played DnD, Star Wars, Vampyre, and Shadowrun RPGS though I am by far the most knowledgable in DnD. These days I mostly play in online forums. I used to table top but since we moved we no longer have a regular kid freindly group to play with. Feel Free to post about anything you like, kids, entertainment, ect. |

Hello,
My husband and I are geeks, raising 2 littles geeks of our own in the Midwest. Tonight's family fun night was watching a "Best of" SG-1. My husband leans toward the spacey side with Battlestar Galatica and Star Trek, but he doesn't quite understand my love of Buffy, Angel or Highlander. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. On the computer, I lean toward strategy games like Civilization, but I do so much surfing and social networking now that I haven't checked out the software aisle in quite a while. I'm looking forward to this group. I bet nobody here thinks it's weird to have a Google gadget for the Star Wars quote of the Day or a Heroes fan feed. |

I guess I"m the youngin' of the group. I'm 23 mother of one soon to be 2(8 weeks 5 days left and counting). I grew up watching scifi with my dad ( Star trek, stargate, highlander, quantum leap, the whole scifi channel). It has stayed with me though I am not likely to openly admit to all of it (yet I have a LOTR tattoo). LOL

well then, that would probably make me the elder statesman of the group. LOL...I am almost 38...mother of one three year old daughter. My hubby bought me a framed wall mounted map of Middle Earth for our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. It's hanging on our living room wall. (it's five feet by four feet...I think...and the wall it's hanging on? well that voodoo purple)
Big fan of Neil Gaiman and all things sci-fi / fantasy. I have proudly never seen an episode of Grey's Anatomy or Desperate Housewive...oh, and that Brothers and Sisters show as well. thankyouverymuch |

Hooray! Another place we can all geek out at. I'm Jillian, I'm 27, I have a daughter who is almost four months old. She's my little red-headed terror that has zero patience like me and a temper like her dad.
I've been a big geek my whole life. I love all science and all science fiction. I'm so glad we have this group. We can be our smart selves and geek out at the same-time... I love watching shows such as... Planet Earth, Animal Planet, Meercat Manner, anything about Earth science, Anthropology, forensics's, all the many mom shows such as Yummy Mommy, A Baby Story, Jon and Kate Plus 8 etc... I also love the History Channel, National Geographic, Hbo's... Big Love, Rome, Deadwood, Flight of the Choncords, Entourage etc... I love so many movies I'm to tired as it's 3:11am to name them all so just ask me. "She believed in nothing; only her skepticism kept her from being an atheist. " -Jean-Paul Sartre
