My 5yr old started practice on monday, tuesday and another tonight. I went to last nights practice and i was shocked to see them actually pushing and tackling one another. I freaked out when i saw one kid push my son down but of course my son wasn't ready. He just gets up and does it again. I was having a hard time because i never seen my son be physical with anyone so last night was tough. He plays tball, bball, and he loves to golf. But geez fball and tackling. It's flag fball and i thought their wouldn't be any tackling. I'm a wussy i guess so i better not let my son see my freak lol. My DH tells me that he needs to get roughed up, but i'm like he's only 5! lol. I wish we would have waited a few years to get him started. He's already in the other three sports, i don't want him to get burned out. Anyone else's boys play fball?

My boys both play football. My youngest just turned 6 his first year. They don't play flag, it's always been full contact. In our rec they start at the age 4/5 with contact.

I only have one piece of advice to you... relax. If he doesn't want to play, pull him, this isn't the sport for him. If he wants to play, support  him. Trust me, he will be fine.

I was scared to death the first year my kids started playing. They have been playing for 3 years and I love it, they love it.

You really don't want to be one of those parents who are scared ... your kid won't get the playing time he deserves if the coaches see it.

i can almost garentee  you will get burned out before him ...lol ..     I do suggest  to only don one sport at a time .  The running  around  can get  tiring  on everyone .
