 What is an IP?

Hi, sorry I'm late replying - it's been hectic here with fire storms, etc.

IP stands for intended parents.  If you want to be a surrogate, traditional or gestational, you need an IM (intended mother) and IF (intended father), or two IMs and/or two IFs for same-sex couples.  You'd be carrying the baby/babies for these IPs.  Sorry if this sounds confusing - the mind's not working too well yet.

Sorry, I don't know of anyone personally who's looking for a surrogate.  The agencies would be the best thing.  Most IPs (especially ones doing this for the first time) go through an agency.  Even though it costs a lot more than going the independent route, it's worth it when you don't know what you're doing.  If I hear of anyone looking for a surrogate I'll send you a private message.  Are you looking to be a GS or TS (gestational or traditional)?  That makes a big difference in some IPs' choices.

Check the IPs looking for Surrogates thread here - there's someone who appears to be looking for a surrogate.  Not in San Diego, but that doesn't really matter.  There's lots of traveling with some surrogacies.

Try doing a "surrogacy" search and I'm sure a group (or more than one) will come up that can help you.  Other than agencies, I'm not sure how indy surrogates get connected with IPs.  Good luck.

I'm not sure how your State views surrogacy.  I know some are very surrogacy friendly (California is the biggest one I know of).  Start there, be sure it's legal where you live (I believe it is, but not sure).  Then I'd suggest checking out a few agencies, or go to one of the online surrogacy boards if you want to go the indy route - lots of people looking for surrogates on those, lots of information.  Good luck.

I have applied to at least a dozen agencies and am searching indy to become a GS. I haev been actively searching for at least 4 months now. I live in Ohio and have four children of my own. I have come close twice to signing a contract but there was always something we didn't agree on so we just stopped the process. I am really starting to get worn in the whole process and I am wondering if I am ever going to find my IP's....
