I love to make roast in the crock pot but it usually turns out dry. I don't know what i am doing wrong. anyone have any suggestions?
My recipe is :
Season roast with salt , pepper and Garlic powder, then pan sear it so it will hold the juice in, then place in crock pot and cover roast with water and I put in 5 boullion cubes or 1/4 cup of beef bullion granules. I also mince 2 cloves of garlic and put it on top of roast. Then I cover and cook for 4 hours on high and 4-5 hours on low. Mine has not been dry one time and I fix roast at leat 1 time a week. Hope this helps.
I use 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 1 pkg of beef and onion soup mix, minced garlic, one can of water and mix it up. I put a bit on the bottom of the pan so it doesn't burn, and pour the rest over. You can sear the roast before you put it in, but I usually don't. It always turns out moist. After you cut it, you also want to put it back in some of the juice so it doesn't dry out.
I use two packs of onion soup mix and how ever much water it says on the box, can't remembr. But I put small carrots on the bottom, put on package of onion soup over top then the roast half frozen and then the other package of onion soup mix, then cut up red potatoes and then i add the water, put on low for about 8-10 hours depending on size of roast. Always comes out moist and tender
