                                           Daily Devotions

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust:
                                                        Psalm 143:8

Many people in this world are selfish. From the time a baby can grab what he wants, we begin to see this trait. Many times they consider things "theirs" and they refuse to give them up.
As people grow older, they seldom get better. They grow more sneaky about selfishness and the list of things they are selfish over also grow.
Giving and sharing are good things to learn. God blesses us when we do- remember the boy in the New Testament who gave his lunch to the Lord?
Christ says in Matthew 10:8b- freely ye have received, freely give.
We must realize that all we have belongs to God and we should use it for his purpose.
Joseph is our lesson today. We must remember that Joseph's brothers hated him. They wanted to kill him. They sold him as a slave and thought nothing more of him.
God brought Joseph thru many things. He reunited him with his family. After his father died, his brothers began to think of how they treated him.
Genesis 50:15-21
The brothers thought Joseph was just being nice to them because their dad was alive. They were afraid now that he was dead that Joseph would seek revenge.
The brothers came up with a plan that they hoped would spare their lives. They sent someone to Joseph with a message. They had this person tell Joseph that his dad wanted him to treat the brothers fairly. Then they went and offered themselves as servants. They thought if they worked for him that he wouldn't kill them.
Joseph was so powerful that he could have done anything to his brothers to pay them back. But, Joseph knew why God had allowed this to happen. He forgave his brothers and shared the blessings God had  given him.
Just because someone is bigger or stronger doesn't give them the right to act evil or selfish. Just because you can take something or keep something by force doesn't make it right.
2 Corinthians 9:6- But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
God has blessed each and every one of us with talents and blessings. Just because God gave them to you doesn't mean he wants you to be selfish. God blesses you so you can bless others. And remember, one day you may need another person to share their blessing with you!
