Blessings Of Faithfulness

(Gen 30:27 KJV) And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.

Over and over again in the Bible we see employers, or rulers blessed because of the faithfulness of a godly laborer. It ought to be so today too! Are the blessings of God still upon His children today? Of course they are. Why then are we not a blessing to others? Our prosperity is of the Lord, (Job 1:21). Any blessing, any prosperity that we enjoy, we owe it all to the Lord, not our own wiles or diligence. Our walk with the Lord is very important, not only to us, but to others also. Those who are subject to us are blessed along with those we subject ourselves to, and honor is given to honor. God’s blessings are so rich, so pure and so plentiful that they “overflow” from us and flow unto others. There is no excuse for a Christian to have to beg for bread (Psa 37:25). God is still on the throne!

Jacob had to serve Laban longer than he had planned, but the fact is that Laban did not want him to leave at all! He had already bargained for sheep and two wives, but Laban still wanted him to remain. He enjoyed the presence of a man of God. His wages had been changed many times, and Laban had not been exactly fair with him. The “schemer” was tasting some of his own medicine! Jacob had reaped what was sown.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Mt. 6:33) It is true throughout all eternity. Put God first, and He’ll put you first too! Christ is the key to prosperity. If we will seek Christ before all things, we too will reap His blessings. Look at 1 Peter 4: 14:
“If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” This is one of my favorite verses concerning reproaches. It’s at times like these that we need to know the hand of God is upon us.
