a couple of questions about showers...

We are expecting our first in May, and I've only been to 3 baby showers in my life. All three had one thing in common: really annoying games!! I absolutely can't STAND games, I always feel stupid for some reason while playing them, and I suck at games...I definitely do NOT enjoy them! Are games an absolute requirement at a shower? And if they are, what kind of games are easy to play and don't take any thought? I didn't have any games at my wedding shower, it was more of just a party where everyone stood around and talked, and honestly, I liked it that way.

Another issue I'm having: I just found out I have gestational diabetes, and my nutritionist doesn't want me having anything sweet at my shower (not even sugar free). Will people be offended if I don't have a cake? Honestly, I wouldn't mind everyone else eating cake except for me, but I am just absolutely tortured by the sight of anything sweet right now because I can't have it.

I want to have a fun shower, but I'm so lost at what I can do! My mother in law is wanting to throw my shower, but she wants my input...and I don't know what to say to her!

First, CONGRATULATIONS!

Second if she wants to do this for that's great let her do it, and be honest with her from the start. SHe's asking for your thoughts because she wants to have it the way you want it. So let her in on what your concerns are.

No one will be upset or disappointed if there isn't a cake and no one will be upset if there isn't games.

Instead of a real cake have someone make a diaper cake as the centerpiece. Have lots of fresh fruits so that if anyone wants sweet they can have it without guilt.

I hope this helps. GL
