slipcover help

i recently bought a glider and ottoman off craigslist and it is NASTY!!! the cushions are so stained so i want to recover them.

1. how do i go about recovering them?

2. what kind of fabric should i use? would a sheet work?

i would use upholstry fabric. you could use a sheet, but it wouldn't last long. you want something a little more heavy-duty. if you use a sheet, maybe reinforce it.

if the cushions are moveable, you could trace around them to make a pattern (making sure you leave space for loft), and do a pillow case type cover for them that you can zip on, or velcro, or button or something. if they have removable covers (like the kind you can zip off and wash) that's even better for making a pattern.

I recovered my couch and oversized chair about 7 times over a 19year period. I finally bought a new couch. It is made with mircofiber material. I love it. Spils run right off and dog hair is so much easier to vacuum. I am not sure where you can get it shop around.
