Wondering what you have done for Thanksgiving crafts in the past???  What was a hit?  What to aviod?

I have seen so many really cute crafts in magazines and online but I don't want to spend a small fortune, lol!

  • Handprint Turkey - This is more for younger kids but older ones like them too!

When my girls were younger I had them make these as place markers at our THanksgiving table. I am still using them even thought they are about 5 years old! I just can't seem to part with their tiny hands!

construction paper - brown, orange and red

    tacky glue

    googly eyes

    colored craft feathers

    Brown pipe cleaners

Trace the childs hand on the brown paper and cut out.

Glue on the feathers, one per finger exept the thumb. Glue googly eyes onto the thumb. cut out an orange beak and red waddle, glue on.

Use brown pipe cleaners for legs and glue on. You can also cut out feet form paper if you'd rather.

  • Super cheap and easy fall leaf wreath.  My daughter is 4 and did most of it by herself.

Go for a walk!  Gather leaves of all colors.  Dry the leaves by placing them in a single layer between two sheets of paper towels and microwaving them at 30 second intervals for about a minute (or until completely dry---it only took us 2 cycles) .

Cut a wreath from heavy cardboard and glue leaves around it.  We used hot glue----I dotted and my daughter placed the leaves.  We added a plastic sunflower and made a hanger by punching two holes in the top and stringing a ribbon through.

It won't last forever, but the leaves *should* hold their color and shape throughout the season.
