Hi ladies!

My name is Carolyn. I have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and infant, and after school I watch another 5 year old 3 days a week and sometimes other kids (one is 6, one is 7, one is 5, one is 3 and there are occasionally 4-year old twins who make their way over here!) who decide to stop by. I love to do crafts with them and they love to do them, but I am having a creative block!!! I am only getting paid for one of the kids, so the funds for supplies are rather small when you take into account how many kids are using them..! I have tried the crafting websites that I know but they are a bit overwhelming and have some pretty outrageous things. These kids are small, so the crafts would need to be age-appropriate, but we do not mind getting messy so there's no limit to what I'm willing to try! Lol! I have smocks and a drop cloth :) I don't want to keep sending them home with papers scribbled on, because they get enough of that from school. I'd like for them to make things that are either useful or actually nice looking for parents to display or for the kids to give as Christmas gifts to family or something.

That was sort of long-winded, sorry! Anyway any help would be fantastic!!! Thanks for reading :)

  • Edible finger painting.. add food coloring to vanilla pudding to make diff colors, put each color on paper plate in center of table, pass out paper or cover the table in paper, and let the good times roll!!!

    PLAY DOH FUN

TURTLES FROM AN EGG CARTON, HERES A PIC OF OURS

CEREAL NECKLACES..  PUT CEAREAL (FRUIT LOOPS, CHEEREOS,APPLE JACKS ETC.) ONTO YARN AND VIOOLA

SAND ART BUY A BIG BAG OF PLAY SAND, COLOR WITH FOOD COLORIING, EITHER BUY LIL CONTAINERS FOR THE KIDS TO POUR INTO, OR GLUE A REG. COLORING PAGE TO CARDBOARD, AND LET THEM PAINT EACH AREA WITH GLUE, THEN SPRINKLE COLORED SAND ONEACH AREA TO COLOR THE PICTURE, OR MAKE THEIR OWN SAND ART PICTURES.

COLOR A PAPER COMPLETELY IN ALL DIFF COLORS THEN COLOR OVER WITH BLACK MARKER, GIVE THE POPSICLE STICKS, TOOTH PICKS, OR ANYTHINGS TO SCRATCH WITH, AND THEY CAN SCRATCH OUT A PICTURE IT LOOKS AWESOME WHEN DONE!!

FALL TIME WE GO OUT AND GET PRETTY LEAVES, SHAVE CRAYONS INTO DIFF BOWLS, SET OUT A WAX PAPER SHEET FOR EACH CHILD, LET THEM PUT THEIR LEAVES ON THE WAX PAPER HOWEVER THEY LIKE, AND THEN SPRINKLE CRAYON SHAVINGS OVER THE LEAVES, PLACE ANOTHER WAX PEICE OVER TOP, AND THEN AN ADULT NEEDS TO IRON OVER IT BUT PUT A TOWEL BETWEEN THE IRON AND THE WAX PAPER OR PUT ON A LOW LOW SETTING. THEN HANG ON A GLASS SCREEN DOOR, OR WINDOW, THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!! CAN ALSO DO THE SAME WITH FLOWERS...

    HOPE THESE HELP.

  • Great ideas from the previous posts.  Maybe the children don't pay could bring you some "art" stuff?

  • hi,

you can make your own playdough with kids and divide into plastic container or baggies so they bring home. it's just basic ingredients for it like salt, flour, cream of tartar, oil, water  and food coloring. also you can add glitter too it.  they should enjoy making their own playdough.

you and the kids can take empty soda, water or juice bottle fill up with water add food coloring, glitter , beads and other little tintkers put the cover back on it and it turns into a snow globe

hope this will work for you..
