  • Alright...I feel so sorry for this post-it's lonesome!
Somewhat recently I had two seperate pieces published (yay!)  They found their way into a literary magazine called the Galleon.  Both were poems-one called "Cleo" and the other somewhat stupidly called "TV Night."
It was definitely nice to see my own words in print though!

Now its someone elses turn so I don't feel like a gloater!

  • I published a poem called "Twilight" on Poetry.com and they are publishing a book this season called Immortal Verses and they are going to put my poem in there. They are also putting it on a 3 CD set with 32 other poems. I guess I was a semifinalist in their contest. Here's the poem.

    Twilight

In the dark of the night,
I get lost in the moonlight,
    Somewhere in the surreality
    Of the computations in astrology.
    It's such an interesting shade
    Of violet and marmalade, and
    I can see the romance,
    As the flowers dance.
    It's more than the wind
    I know it is.
So, are you ever coming with
So you can listen to my voice on the wind
When I haven't even opened my mouth and
Get lost in the colors in the south
    Just before the witching hour
At three a.m., can you feel the power?

I have more poetry and stuff on my website, if you're interested in reading it.

I entered the same thing and was a semi finalist...I didnt know if it was a hoax or not. Here's my poem
    Pretend
My heart is bleeding, My insides torn
Ive cried so much my eyes are worn
But Ill walk around with a happy face
Even though my mind is a dark place
Ill try to laugh, talk, and joke
Though you dont care to hear ive spoke
I know you want to tell your story first
And I guess for some reason Im meant to be cursed
Ill just sit back, listen , and smile
Although you people are so disgusting and vile
I have to fit in, not be to sad
When I die then Ill finally be glad
God please help me to pretend
Then, just maybe, Ill make a friend

Its kind of depressing but thats when I write best lol

  • I am co-author of an award winning book series that has been receiving national media attention. The series is called Bur Bur and Friends. The books are listed below in order. The first book is a winner of the 2008 Teachers Choice Awards. Bur Bur and Friends is a group of multi-cultural characters that educate young children to sports and outdoor exploration through their experiences. The characters are learning about a new sport or activity in the storylines. The back of the books have interactive point-and-learn pages so kids can learn what to bring on a fishing trip, or how to identify animals on a hike, or the basics of baseball.

  • Hello All:

I am happy to report that while mopping the floor and having Sesame Street play in the background, a publisher called a few months back and offered to publish my novel. (I don't hate mopping so much anymore.)

It has taken a while since that call to wait for the book to come out. It's almost like being excited about a pregnancy.

That said, the novel comes out in April of this year. It's called JANEOLOGY - part character study of one Texas mom/part legal thriller. If you wish, you can see the beautiful cover and more info at www.karenharringtonbooks.com

Thanks for the chance to post here about it. I am excited to be part of this group.

    Cheers,

    Karen

  • I used to teach preschool, until in 2001 I was diagnosed with cancer.  On that same day one of my students was killed in a car accident.  To make a long story short, I quit my job and returned to college.  I am currently working on becoming a doctor.  While in school, I discovered that I enjoy writing.  I am a published author of  " The Adventures of Lily."  This book is geared towards preteens.

  • Today my English professor asked if I could come to his office after class. Nervous, I went and recieved some great news. MMC published the first edition of a book called Paddlefish in 2007. There will be 2nd edition published here in 2008, which I will be a part of through my writing and publishing class. It is book of essays, poems, and short-stories from well established authors all over the country. The submissions start pouring in in November and flow steadily through Feburary. Last year 3 students had pieces selected and published in the book. Well.....today he asked if it is okay to include my final paper from last semester in the book!!!! It has already been chosen, I only had to accept. I am so excited to have another paper published!  It will also be in the running for the 2008 J.L. Gormer Award for Nonfiction Prose!! I am so excited. If you would like to read excerpts from the current issue or see what this book is all about, here is the website.

    www.mmcpaddlefish.com

And be sure to look for the next edition due out in 2008...and don't forget to read my piece!!!

It is a 8 page essay based of true events from my life.
