I know that, according to the Christian beliefs, Jesus came to deliver the inhabitants of the world from their sins, but (and this is a question about the still-to-come Jewish messiah, as well) what about the inhabitants of OTHER worlds? Extra-terrestrial beings? Did Jesus's death take care of them, too? Do they have their own messiah? I know this isn't in the bible anywhere, so I was just wondering what you guys thought about it individually.

It;s real simple for me to answer this question.
I don't believe there are other life forms.
Now I have no idea where the church stands on this, it's just my opinion.

I was talking religion with my very conservative Roman Catholic dad the other day. He was talking about watching the moon landing and how it shook his beliefs to the core. (The main belief was the ascension of Mary - she was supposed to have gone straight up to heaven body and soul together. My dad had been hoping to see Heaven when they went up into space. When he couldn't see it, it crushed him.)
Then he said something that I NEVER thought I'd hear him say. "So, is Jesus an alien? How about Mary? How else could she survive space?" I told him he was looking for logic in something spiritual which I believe goes against believing in the mystical. I feel that religion asks you to believe with your heart, not question with your mind.
OK, so, for the sake of argument - if Jesus is an alien, would that make him the Lord of all life forms in the universe?
Disclaimer: I am not a Christian, and I do believe that there is other life out there. I personally feel that the universe is far to vast for us to be alone. I also feel that humanity is not worth all of that space - we can't even manage our own planet!!

Quoting annieeggplant:Interesting theory about Jesus is an alien. My dad, an atheist, always jokely said he thought we were an alien experiment. I feel the same way that you posted in your disclaimer.

I'm not Christian either and so feel I can't comment about the question of the post.

The universe is such an expansive space (hence the term, space, I suppose) that it is hard to believe that there are NOT other beings. That being said, however, as far as we've discovered (which leaves much undiscovered), there are no other planets that are inhabitable, at least by beings similar to ours. Did a god/dess create only OUR world or the entire universe? Does he/she reside over all of it, or just over us. If it's just us, what makes us so special; what makes us different? Wiat - I'm only asking more questions! Were you looking for an answer? Apparently, I don't have one!

Man you come up with some good ones! lol. I don't think I've EVER seen anything addressed religiously beyond the "celestial beings" of god/dess's! What a thought! lol
This is where it gets really interesting!!! There is every possibility that the entire enterprise of religion originated with the Heavenly bodies above us...meaning the worshipping of the Sun and the Moon and the Stars....so given that 'religion's' ORIGINS are celestial.....wouldn't it stand to reason that all the celestial beings out there would naturally benefit from an Earth-bound messiah of some sort.....??? Not even sure I follow my own logic or lack thereof...but can anyone see where I'm going with this? If so....LET ME KNOW!!! LOL
