My question, then, is, what if it does harm? You get in a fight, you toss out an insult, you murder the neighbor's dog, you become a cutter (which harms yourself). What then?
I think I remember that you guys don't believe in hell, so is it a karmic punishment you receive? Or no punishment? What happens to you if you go beyond the limitations set forth in that rede?

the rede refers to and includes everything you can possibly come up with. it's saying " what ever you do, if you don't harm yourself or anyone/thing in the process it's ok to do it with a clear and positive conscience." and if you do harm you can expect to get it back three times over. i'm comfortable with this way of thinking because i get to be my own judge of what is or isn't "harmful". it keeps me honest with myself.
That is SO AWESOME.

I'm going to screw things all up here ( sorry)
I am not Wiccan. I have read the Rede & I even have a copy of it, but I do not know the "ins & outs" of it.
Doing what you will, but harming none is pretty much a universal Neo-Pagan theme. It's a reminder to think about what you do & how it could affect others. It reminds me to find a "mundane" (non magical) way to solve problems first. I can't go cursing folks for wrong doings because I might have misunderstood their intention.
Like this : You cut me off in traffic. Of course I get angry BUT what was your intention for cutting me off? Are you just being a jerk or did you just find out that your child is in the hospital???
If I start throwing out a bunch of negative energy at you, that negativity will come back to me. Energy attracts like energy - so whatever good or bad you send out will return to you. I don't necessarily believe in the "Threefold Law" but the more good or bad energy you put out is how much you get back & it will build up on itself.
I also need to think of reasons why I want to do something ~ is it my ego talking or am I really in tune with the universal good? If I screw up I am responsible for correcting my mistakes. I can't just ask the gods to forgive me - I have to do whatever actions I can to repair the damage I have done.
In the cycles of life, there are many lessons to be learned. If I don't get it the first time, I'll have to keep going on until I do. So maybe that's a pale shade of karma.... but that's how I see it. I won't be able to go on to learn new things if I can't get my act together.
Quoting bluesmomNC:That's really cool. I think it's awesome that no matter what religion or belief you have that the main thing is basically to just treat others the way you would want to be treated.I'm going to screw things all up here ( sorry)

Is there any significance in the kinds of incense you burn. I had a friend tell me he cant burn dragon blood in his house. If there is some significance what are the different kinds and significance.

That is a long and involved answer, but in short, yes. Different incenses have different purposes insofar as what you're trying to achieve in whatever endeavor you're embarking upon (within ritual parameters).
Incense generally represents the air element. It's often burned in ritual to invite the presence of the God and Goddess. It's commonly used to purify an item (usually a magickal tool), or an area of negative energies, (unwanted) spectral energies, or to "cleanse" and promote postive energy in your home and/or space. It comes in many forms... like, stick, cones, resins, powders, and cubes.
I have used it for elemental scrying, myself, and I use a type that is both pleasing to my sense of smell and that have properties that attune me to the Goddess. I prefer to use stick incense, but a lot of people like to mix their own and add herbs, and cones are popular, too.
Sandlewood and frankincense are used often, as they have "universal" properties, and usually people like how they smell, which is a plus for some but a necessity for most.

To be honest, that's about as good an explanation as any of the Rede :)
