This brought up in my mind the racist post-and how we do not represent all types in the media.
Tonight my daughter was coloring a Dora the explorer and boots picture. She was just about done and said I still have to color Dora's skin light brown. I just said ok that will be nice. She proceeds to give me a lesson. She say's mommy, all people have different color skin. She said " Katherine has different eyes than me, remember and Emily is brown?" That is how we are made."

I couldn't even speak...I was so proud of her and amazed. She is only three, and not only does she listen to what I say but I really think she has grasped it. Too often we don't give our kids enough credit for what they know and what they can learn. As parents we really need to expose them to everything we can.

I just need to share this story....

Its a boy!!!!

Your daughter is awesome!  (you already knew that, but I figured she would be!)

I love little kids......  they are very astute.  My kids enlighten me on almost a daily basis.

That was a great story - thanks for sharing!

Oh, that is so beautiful! Those are moments when you know that love is so freakin' powerful and what a blessing our kids are, and that they're making this world a better place.

"I want what I love to continue to live, and you whom I love and sang above everything else to continue to flourish, full-flowered:

so that you can reach everything my love directs you to, so that my shadow can travel along in your hair, so that everything can learn the reason for my song."
