Big Voltaire fan here, but though I like his music, I don't always agree with his views.  If there is a god, I don't think he/she hates ANYONE, even the haters. 

I do agree with this:  "never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god and says it's absolute truth."  Man...I see that WAY too often.

Janaki, where are you from?  I know a Janaki, and I don't imagine it's an incredibly over-used name.

I think that's kind of his point, that if God exists he doesn't hate anyone. 

lol, I think I need to make a new screen name!  This is left over from my Hare Krishna days, and I left that behind a long time ago!  It's just a royal pain in the butt to make a new profile and upload pictures on CM and then try finding my friends again.  Plus I don't know how that would affect the groups I own!

I don't know...to say "God thinks you're a waste of flesh," it seems like Voltaire thinks that, if there was a God, he'd hate all the people who say and do stupid things in his name.

Oh my god....I just realized that I don't have any Voltaire on my playlist!  I used to, but the link went funny and I had to delete it!  WHAT am I THINKING?

Gonna fix it now.

btw:  this line actually kind of (sort of) sums up my personal feelings on God:

this is a line from a phish song that i always identified with. i think some people think that if they just pray and pray, everything in their lives will turn out just fine. this is one of my biggest problems with the christian religion. you have to work at life, you can't just expect your faith to do the work for you. it bugs me so much that some people don't seem to understand this, and then they sit back and cry like a victim when things get bad for them. it also makes me think of the quote : "two hands working can accomplish more than a thousand clasped in prayer." i don't know who said that, but it sure makes sense to me.
