I know that meeting potential partners of the same sex is WAY more complicated than meeting differently-gendered prospects. I know that there are gay bars and dating websites set up specifically for meeting other gays to date, not to mention rallies and socials, but outside of that, how do you do it?
Let's say you're sitting talking to the financial counselor at the doctor's office, and you realize that she's ADORABLE. You notice she's not wearing a ring. Now, a man could just say "Hey, would you be interested in getting a drink together sometime?" but would it work the same way for a woman? Some straight women get downright offended if you insinuate that they might be into chicks...(don't get me STARTED on the idiocy of that), so you wouldn't want to make it AWKWARD, right? I mean, how would that work?

Gosh, I haven't "dated" for what seems like FOREVER. I met Brenda through work and we both knew each were lesbians. About a year later we "hooked" up. Before that, I dated some "friends" who were out... or "curious" as it turned out. I don't anticipate "dating" again, so I really can't say whether or not it would be difficult. However, I have REALLY good 'gaydar' and can easily tell when someone is happy. For example, I know that Jess is a total lesbian... in hiding. :-) Really, though, I can just tell...
