Guess what?! As of August 3rd, in the State of Wisconsin, Brenda and I can register to be recognized as a legal domestic partnership. It's far from marriage, but it's a start (especially after the ban passed in Wisconsin a few years ago). Our governor thought that couples like us should be afforded protections, too. Married couples have over 200 protections and this act gives us 43 protections (better than none, right). Our protections range from Inheritance & Survivor protections to Family and Medical Leave to Medical, Hospital & Visitation rights. What I'd really like is social security benefits, but I'll take what we can get. I'm so excited.
Om so happy for you, it is certainly a step in the right direction.

OMIGOSH YAY!!!
Those are some pretty important protections, right there! I'm so excited for you! Like you said, it's a step!
