I didn't find this book as useful as other homesteading books I've read. Maybe it's his style. What I did find interesting is the version I'm reading is copyrighted in 1975 and they had been homesteading for 10 years prior to writing the book. He makes a statement that they moved out of the "rat race" because of all the consumerism. That was as early as 1965, or maybe even before that! I found that very revealing, that even then people thought we were a nation of consumers, and how much worse is it now??
I recommend you borrow this before buying!
