Does anyone own this? I've got a copy from the library and it would take me forever to read the whole thing and I probably wouldn't be able to remember half of it. I think it'd be a good investment, just wonder if anyone else has it and what you think.

Depending on how much you're into homesteading. I absolutely LOVE this book even though I am only a suburban "gentleman" farmer. I use my copy all the time, mostly just for gardening and recipes but when and if I grow into having livestock I will use those sections as well. It's great to have for a reference and if you only get one book on homesteading, I think this one is the Bible of homesteading books. I covers so many topics and in fairly good detail that you won't need to buy one for chicken keeping and another for gardening and another for wine making, yogurt making, soap making etc. Pretty much anything we talk about in this group she's got something to say about. So yes, i definitely recommend buying, even if you're just a marginal homesteader like me.
OK, thanks! I'll start looking for it on sale...

I want that book too!! I did find "Storey's Basic Country Skills" at TSC and bought that. I've heard that they are similiar but I still want the Encyclopedia of Country Living too! Just can't seem to find one used or on sale yet. Love these kind of books.
The Amazon link in my original post has them used. They aren't much cheaper though. Probably no one wants to give theirs up! I have a friend that is in charge of the used book sale at the library and she watches for the types of books I like and sets them aside for me. Nice perk!!
