We recently bought a rabbit. She is small but has pin sharp nails.I got a nail clipper for her but when i tryed to cut them she jerked and let me know i was hurting her.Is there a way to just file them down  quickly instead of cutting them?I just need to take the sharp points off so when my dd holds her she is not getting scratched.

We use the giloteen (sp?) clippers like are used on cats and dogs, I got mine at walmart for $4.00 just a few weeks ago.. We then wrap our rabbits in a towel and hold our one paw at a time, this comforts the rabbits but also gets the job done.

If your bunny is a young, there is a good chance that her sharp nails will thicken quite a bit yet. This is what I do to cut my bunnies nails if they're jumpy: I wrap them in a towel with their heads sticking out.( I use a human nail cutter or a dog nail cutter.) I sit crossed-legged on the floor with the bunny in my lap. I pull one paw out at a time and cut. This is also a good time to check inside the bunny's ears and to make sure her front teeth are not over grown.

I used to wrap my bunny in a towel so that she couldnt jerk away.
