When I took me 2 rabbits to the vet she told they were both boys.  One is CLEARLY a boy(His balls have"dropped")  and he's trying to, uhhh, hump/mate with the other one.  I tried to check to see if the other ones ball have"dropped" but couldnt see that they had.

They are only about 4months old.  So could 'he' just be a late bloomer?  Or is the  other one just early?

My other question is,how old do rabbits have tobe to get nuetered?

I read to go based on the same for a cat.  4mos is good.   and that may not help the fighting.  also to keep them from females b/c it takes a couple weeks for everything to settle down after neutering.    wonder where I read that....I'm sure I googled it

I would seperate them until you are SURE.  We bought a second guinea pig a few years ago thinking she was a boy, but a few months later we had a mommy and 3 baby guineas.  I am convinced the pet store did it on purpose to get free babies to sell cuz we gave all 4 of them back 8 weeks later.

I'm not sure how old they have to be to get neutered, can you ask the vet?  Make sure you go to one that has experience with bunnies.  http://www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

hi, im a vet tech,  male rabbits can be neutered as early as 12 weeks, that is when their testicles drop.  so and by 4 months they are sexually mature to start making babies. so i would do it now, cause it can alter their personality if they get to into the humping and all the hormones, so i would do it before he gets to use to doing it.

Yep, above poster is right.  12 weeks (3 months) is usual.

Now, my vet told me that if my bunny is going to be around ANY other bunny, she (we are still guessing she is a she).., would need to be fixed.  According to him, sexiing bunnies is next to impossible, so to make sure nobody has babies, spaying and neutering is the way to go.

And, yes, it DOES prevent so much fighting too!

I don't have any trouble sexing my bunnies unless they are less than about 3-4 weeks old. Just turn them over, poke your thumb right above their genitalia and if the hole is a slit or line it's a girl, if it's more round and pops out at you it's a boy.

maybe it's because mine is so small (she weighs around 2 pounds when at her heaviest), but two vets, who specialise in small and exotics, both looked and felt around and said they weren't sure.  It was kind of a to-do and she was at least 4 months old at the time..

One of these vets even did a couple of surgeries on "her" and still is not sure, but thinks she probably IS a girl.  Still, he would not put money on it!  It's not like it matters to me since we don't have any other bunnies around her/him.

Personality-wise, I would say she's a girl, for sure!

Weird. I've sexed the little baby mini rex bunnies before with out a problem and they are much smaller than 2 lbs! I wonder if you took her to a breeder they could tell you? Sometimes vets just aren't rabbit people even if they are exotic vets.

Actually, the breeder did say she is a she.. and the vet I go to does specialise in bunnies *and other small and exotics, but, both he and his partner could not tell for sure.  They said to assume she's a she and we left it at that.  Now, I guess it's possible that my Mimi is an android (both sexes) but I prefer to think of her as a girl.  Like i said, she has the personality of a gal, to be sure!
