Your right on being careful. No one should pay to get the list of companies that offer shop jobs. you might also want to check out Mystery Shopping Providers Association. MSPA.org I believe is the web address. There you can get in touch with others that are apart of the larger forum(I can't find it at the moment...sorry) the one set up by shoppers, for shoppers. The forum on MSPA and Volition are made by the providing companies and sometimes are heavy handed on what they will allow to get posted on them

I love mystery shopping. Last week I did James Coney Island. I got paid $10 for food plus $7.00 for time. It took approximtely 30 minutes plus 30 to write and up and submit.
Next week I am doing an oil change that pays $30 for the oil change plus $10 for the fee.
I am also scheduled to do a bowling alley. It reimburses the cost of two people to bowl, $8,00 for food and pays $8.00
I was going to do NASA but got sick. I was sad to miss that one.

I actually have never done one but I did give the information to my sister in law and she have done some for footlocker, victoria secret and some food places and things like that. She liked it when she wasn't working.

There are 100's of companies out there that do mystery shopping. A great place to start is www.volition.com and look there for lists of companies that you can sign up with. Rule is - don't pay to shop. They pay you. Don't sign up for a 3rd party company that does nothing more than find the shops you can find on your own for free.
Good luck!
