I was just curious how you are all paying for you schooling. I just got a letter saying that I don't qualify for a cal-grant. I don't know what this means for me. School is so expensive I hope that I can continue.

I'm on my hubby- GI BILL! I've had some problems with that also, I suppose to be getting paid to go to school, because he is a veteran, but they don't want to pay. So we are back and forth with the state of AL, and the state of GA with this thing, And the school sent me a bill for the course, and we had to straighten that out; I HOPE I CAN CONTINUE ALSO. LET ME KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON, I'LL LET U KNOW ABOUT MY UPDATE; HANG IN THERE; WHERE'S THERE A WILL-THERE WILL CERTAINLY BE A WAY, WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER!

Thank you so much for your encouraging response. I am still hanging in their also and so far things are working. I don't know where you buy your books but I found that half.com has great deals on most all books.

I'm getting grants and loans from Sallie Mae. I've not had any problems this time (except for a screw up that the school made but quickly fixed) I get book vouchers from the school. They take it out of the aid money that I get. Once those are done (they only give vouchers for the first 3 terms) then I'm probably gonna have to pay for books out of pocket (yech)

With Phoenix Online/ Axia College I did FAFSA and a stafford loan with Wells Fargo. This time around with Westwood I am trying to do FAFSA, Sallie Mae Stafford Loan, and a Sallie Mae signature (aka personal) loan.

Do you think when you are done that these loans are going to be hard to pay off? I have heard a lot of bad things about school loans. I have one myself and I just want to be prepared.

Not sure if they are necessarily if they will be hard to pay off, but I know the monthly payments aren't to high. my hubby is only having to pay fifty some odd dollars a month toward his. Same with me when I have to start paying them off. Also with the amount of money I should be making from my career I am not to worried about it. My school will find me a job for the rest of my life.

I am getting a $2000 grant from my school for good grades, I get a Federal Pell grant and the balance we are paying with a Wachovia Student Loan. 6 months after I graduate I have to start paying $50 a month on it. Hopefully it will be so worth it I won't mind paying it! LOL.

That is awesome that your parents are able to do that.

I am one of the lucky ones that max out the pell grant amount plus I get student loans which covers most of the cost.  After the loans it takes about 1/2 of my pell grant to finish paying for everything but I end up not having any out of pocket expense.
