Hi! I was just curious what reactions you've gotten from people when they find out you're attending college online? I know my school is accredited, I transferred my credits from a regular University; but I'm amazed at the neg reactions I get from people! They're like, "Is it REAL school"? I'm thinking, No, I'm an idiot and I'm doing all this work and paying all this money for a fake degree! Duh!

Many of the people that Iwork with are also getting their degrees online so they are aware that many "real" colleges now offer many of their classes online. But out in "the real world" I do find a lot of people asking me questions about how my degree can be real if I took the classes online. I just explain to them that this is why you do the research before you begin and pay for a program.

On Yahoo they have a sections called Answersbasically where someone can ask a question and others give the answers or their opinions on the matter. There was one about UoP asking for others input on the school and there was a lot of people who were saying that it is a paper mill and the degrees are not real (which I know that they are real) and that it is a profit college (is there a college out there that is not a profit college?) Anyways had to set them straight on a few vital details. I really hate when people talk about a subject that they just have no understanding of. The bottom line is that this type of school was developed for people who have chaotic lives. As I have told others if you have no child or children and don't work most of the 24 hours that exist in one day then you should probable go to a physical school. However if your life is chaotic and is lived on other's schedules then this is a good option rather then waiting until later. I graduated high school saying that I was taking 1 year off then going back. Well 12 years later I finally did go back. This time with 2 children, a husband and a full time job there is just no way that I could go to a physical school. Not to mention the Friday before I started my first class I discovered that I was pregnant with my third child, two days before delivering our electric box blew up out on the pole, then after the pregnancy found out I had thyroid cancer and to top that year off the night that I got out of the hospital from having radioactive iodine my house burned down (with all of the Christmas presents since it was a couple of weeks before Christmas). There is not another school that I could have went to that would have allowed me to continue my education while having all of these things happening at the same time.
The problem here, is that Online education is kind of a new concept. Just think like years ago when women were not into getting an education at all. Then some of them decided to go for it even though there were TONS of people including other women who were against that idea. Just give it a time to grow. You'll see, in ten fifteen years there will be more college kids graduating from online institutions because they will have time to do other stuff meanwhile, like get a job anf help with their college education.
Well, that's just what I think!!!!
