by mnmom99 on Jan. 14, 2008 at 4:28 PM![]() Circus Circus! There are SO many fun circus related ideas for kids rooms and although half of my family is deathly afraid of clowns (lets just say one parent wont be taking the kids to a circus anytime soon) it can be a really fun and bright theme with lots of primary red, yellow and blue with accents of circus peanut orange, cotton candy pink and sky blue. by mnmom99 on Jan. 14, 2008 at 4:33 PMHere is a board inspired by a recent post about how to do a child's room with a Knight theme. The main theme colors are black, gray and dark blue, but some flashes of bright red and yellow keep it fun and friendly for kids. Use tan and taupe background colors to help warm up the theme and stripes to make it fun. Accessories like a plush dragon stuffed animal, stuffed bear rug and a great knight's steed rocking horse help spark the imagination and complete the look.

I have been wanting to do a princess themed idea board - there are SO many great ideas and colors for a princess room, it was hard to decide what to add. Since your daughter is into Disney princesses specifically, you would want to have some fuschia and dark purple accessories because the toys are so brightly colored. Light greens, yellows, pinks and lavendar make a good backdrop for the brighter colors. I think you could add some cute storage pieces and then some fun accessories to really bring it together without spending alot of money. Hope this gives you some color and accsessory ideas - please post when you are finished and have fun!

by mnmom99 on Mar. 12, 2008 at 4:10 PMThis board is based on a Dragon Theme room for a 10 year old boy.
With kids getting closer to the teen/tween years it seems like the best idea is to keep the room decor flexible. The big more expensive elements of the room (storage furniture and floor coverings) along with the bedding and window treatment are more neutral and transitional so they can be used with a variety of different themes. The accessories are where the fun is and where the theme really comes through. Mural patterns can be used to add personality to the walls in a way that again, is flexible. Simple rectangular blocks (reminiscent of castle stones) can be painted on the walls to reinforce the theme. The color palette is a variety of blues along with "dragon" green and some red and yellow accents. by shellibelli on Apr. 8, 2008 at 9:51 PMOooh! Nice! You have a great eye for stuff! Do a fishing one! I am trying to do a fishing room for my 1 year old, but with fun colors like lime & aqua. I am leaning towards freshwater fish though so most stuff that is freshwater are in dull colors. And most fun colored stuff is for tropical fish type stuff... |
