Ok so we have the 2 step-kids rooms almost done, I will post pictures once they are done, well witha  hiccup in what we THOUGHT we were getting back in taxes, now we aren't so the plan for our daughters' room is not going to happen so I need ideas. I want to do Disney Princess but I don't want the cheap looking Disney princess, does that make sense? I am not going to buy any princess bedding maybe sheets but the comforters will be something pretty but not with the Disney princess on it. They are 1 and 2 so Megan is in a toddler bed and Mikayla is in a crib still. We can paint the walls but I don't want to paint the furniture. I will post pictures of the furniture here if I can find some.. so if anyone has ideas I am for it, and I can draw so that's not a problem either. Thanks!!
These pictures are from the old house, their room is not that color

Here is a picture of the mirror that I love, it is Disney and I think it gives you an idea of what I want in the room

Here's a picture of the other dresser, I do not want to paint this dresser it is beautiful and heavy!!

Here's a picture of the crib (kinda)

Here's a picture of one of the dressers its white with purple trim

Here's the toddler bed

Those dressers are really pretty!  What about painting a harlequin or diamond pattern on one of the walls?  You could match the paint colors to the Disney princess dresses, that way it matches but isn't too obvious.  Also, Target and Ikea both have inexpensive chandelier light fixtures - I would have LOVED one of those when I was little and in my princess phase of life!   Have fun and I hope you will post pics when you are finished :)

I am not really sure I understand what you are saying here.....

I was thinking maybe a paint finish like this....

on just one wall or maybe below a chair rail, it looks royal especially when you pair it with "curly" things like your mirror.  (There are step-by-step instructions at the home depot website here )  It is just a suggestion of something that I think fits the Disney Princess theme but could also grow with them.  Hope this was helpful  :)

Oh I see so that then you wouldn't really notice that the furniture doesn't match
I was also thinking of actually going ahead and painting Megan's toddler bed white that way the bed and one of the dressers match. I also have another cheap dresser that I can paint white, but I don't think the BIG dresser will fit int he closet SHRUG. My main problem with the room is that the dressers and beds are all different. If I can get the bed painted then maybe I wont be freaking out so much about the other dresser.
I was also thinking about painting headboards on the walls behind their beds but if we ever moved the room around we would have to repaint.... shrug I don't know I want something REALLY awesome that makes people walk in and go WOW! This is what we were going to do before all the money issues....

We were going to make something very similar to this for both girls. It was going to be so awesome then all these government money issues. I am so disappointed. Now we have to think of something cheap and free. I have some Disney paint left over from the step kids rooms, tink pink and fairytale pink and then a pink primer that I could use for the walls, its just flat not shiny. I don't know I am rambling......thanks for the advice!!!!

Where did you get the mirror from? It is too cute! I also love the castle bed thingy.

Painting the furniture white will definitely help with your issue.
I like the diamond shapes for a chair rail, one wall (like a throne) or a top border.  Just be careful not to do it too much.

You said previously that you are a decent painter........take some of the curly accents from the mirror and add them around the doors or windows.

You could also add the vines from the castle to the room in corners, instead of the curly accents or behind the beds for posts.  If you make it look like a stone wall, it would not matter if you moved the beds or not.

If you get a Disney Princess book, you can get some great ideas for some easy things to paint on the walls.

I did a huge tree with flowers and stuff, but not a Disney theme.

Hope this helps!!!!!!!

Thanks for all tht tips!!

This is what I think will happen, we can't do any of the "castle" we just don't have the $$ for the MDF etc, SO we are going to try to move the furniture around and see about a different arrangement in there to help offset the fact that the furniture doesn't match. I wanted to paint the room as if we were inside a castle, but make some castle bricks not all . I think if ever wall looking like bricks  it would be overwhelming. So maybe some windows doors etc and the princess' "outside" maybe doing things or looking in etc. I don't know we are still undecided. I am going upstairs today to move some furniture around adnd see if I can come up with a better layout. Keep the tips coming, when someone gives me an idea I use it and it grows into more!! THANKS LADIES!!!!!

Sorry about the tax fall through ;(  Just as an idea, we bought a plain white bunkbed set off of Craigslist for $50, of course its not your fancy castle one, but you could very easily add a plywood front and paint it and it would be that exact bed.  I actually considered doing that with it for my daughters Princess bed, but I LOVE her daybed so we are selling our bunk bed when we move (it's in my boys room right now they share, after we move they will not)

I think I may have gotten this picture from this group, but I honestly can't remember.  I think it would be adorable in your princess room, with out the flowers tho I don't think that goes too well:)  I think I would do the bottom half pink tho?

I also love this...

For Decorating, When we move this fall I am doing my daughters room in Disney Princess(she is 3 1/2)  so these are things I am thinking of doing.

I am going to get small shelves and paint them white, then I will put a peg or hook of some sort under each of them and hang her disney dress up outfits from them, we don't have the dresses yet, but that will be her Christmas Present, my mom and I are making them for her :)  On the shelf I am thinking I will put the "barbie" version of the Princesses above the appropriate dresses.

I have my Grandmothers old vanity/dressing table from when she was a little girl, my mother used it as did I, the mirrored top broke tho so its just a table.  Last week I got an AWESOME deal at Kmart on this Mirror that My brother is helping me attatch to my dressing table. for $14

I am going to make her bed skirt out of tulle, have you seen the cute little TuTu's made from strips of tulle? I will be using that only making it to go around her bed instead of her waiste.

This is my favorite Disney Princess Bedding,

I don't think i will buy it tho but make something similar to it for her bed and just buy the sheets :)
