I am trying to figure out what I want to buy for toy storage for my 2 kids. I am wanting to redo the storage in both of their rooms. I was thinking of buying them both the DIY bookshelfs from Target, with chalkboard bins to put it in. Then I was thinking of buying them each a toy box. But I'm not sure if I should get a typical toy box, a couple of the large chalkboard bins on wheels or one of these stackable storage units I found. I know I want the bookcase, with bins in them. Plus something for the bigger toys. But which do you think would work the best?

We moved into a new house, and their rooms aren't as big as they used to be. So I'm trying to find somethings that would hold a lot, but not take up a lot of room.

This is the bookcase I was thinking of getting for my son. I was going to put a couple of bins in, and leave the rest for books.

But should I get these large rolling bins?

Stackable storage units?

or just a regular toy box?

This is the bookcase I want for my daughter.

Should I get her the rolling bins?

I love Expedit from IKEA, I have 3 of them in my home:
I have 2 of them that are bigger than this one 5 cubbies by 5 cubbies.

I also have this in my toyroom and love it too (also from Ikea):
This is Trofast and there are tracks for storage bins to fit in. We have different sized primary colored bins in ours.

I like the bins. But it all depends on you and the kids style. If yall are into keeping like toys together, then smaller units would be ideal. But if you're a chunk and hide kinda gal (like myself) then the deep bins are the way to go!

This is what I did in our play room.
The shelves are from Target.  I added fabric to the back for more of a home-y touch.

It's fabric!
I pulled it real tight & stapled it down.

What a fabulous idea! I have the same bins from Target, but the backing they gave stinks! So, I might just try that. Thank you!

I used the backing over the back of the fabric for more stability.

I actually got the fabric idea from a friend.
I love it!
