Hi there....my name is Nicole. I am a 32 yr old wife and mother. We have one little girl, she is nine. We are always looking for new ways to decorate her room. Make it more user friendly and also fun for her too!!

Hello! Thank you for inviting me to your group and added the canvas photos as well :) Hope to inspire a few mommies to use their kids as great materpieces.

I myself started taking art as early as 7th grade. I continued to study art into college, have done watercolor, oils, acryllic, pastels, 3 dimensional design, so forth. I am mostly FOND of crafting and decorative painting, and yes Home decorating is a passion to. I rarely do much craft and art now with me busy with dance and web designing (another thing I do lol) and I am also a certified florist, where I do my own florals at least most of the time.

I love playing with my kids rooms, they are fun, too bad they outgrow themes so quickly ack! After my first daughter I decided to stay simple with my second because choosing themes such as disney and stuff they come and go faster then I go through toliet paper ha ha, ok not really but fast enough! I have done some pretty outragious designs in the past when I had more free time on my hands and yes even some murals.

I think the craziest thing I done was a home dance studio, at the time it was called Flamingo Performing Arts (changed it cuz I actually got boys in the classes to Kidz Kreative Zone lol) I painted the walls pink with squiggy lines running top to bottom and one wall painted blue for the ocean stencil animal critters, and the dance floor naturally brown for the same with stenciled shells and stuff lol. Kids loved it and it was very bright but playful.

Looking forward to meeting everyone :)

Hi all!!

I'm glad I was invited to join the group! My DDs room is my biggest project right now. We're closing on our first home in three weeks. The other rooms in the house are just getting a little face lift.... my DDs room is getting a complete redo! She's converting from a toddler room to a little girls room complete with her first "big girl bed"! I've been so passionate about her room lately.

Here's a bried description of everything I've been doing and plan to do-

* Built upholstered headboard (see blog for pics & inspiration room) and bought twin matress and rails
* Painted a few simple canvas pieces
* Made her curtains
* Making her bed canopy
* Making dressup corner complete with hooks and racks for dresses and accessories
* Making reading corner complete with book shelf, beanbag chair, pillows, and a 3' tall teddy bear (that I wish was white but I already have a big brown one that someone gave as a gift and it cost a lot of $$)
* Building a long vanity table/desk- it'll be about 5-6' long (space permitting), one side will have a mini U cutout (that'll be the vanity) I'm going to get lots of small square & circle mirrors or one big uniquely shaped mirror and paint some kind of coordinating stuff around it (depends on what we paint the walls.... I love so many different things I can't decide!!!!), then the other side of the table will have a shelf with fabric lined baskets (I'm not talented enough to make drawers!) and a skirt around the entire thing... and a spot to tie the curtains back from the bookshelf (so it'll look like curtains)
* Painting her room.... I haven't decided on a design but I know I want the primary color to be a low tone fuschia with either bright or soft lime green accents (I don't want it to be too busy... but I still want it to be cute)
* Making duvet cover and coordinating pillows (see inspiration room for pics)
* Made huge paper mache floor vase and bought flowers to go in it
.............. I could continue but geez that's a lot of stuff!

hello, and thank you as well for inviting me to the group! I  feel special! My name is Tammy and I am a new mom of twins, they are turning 17 months this next Friday, Sept. 31st! Unbelievable they're that old already! I too am a full time artist and mom, with my own business. Can't wait to see some of the stuff I've been reading about! I am very excited to share some up & coming ideas and designs with all of you as well. I am getting ready to take on another church project in my area again, where two of the bathrooms and the nursery are needing some updated color and murals; a revival of sorts. I'll bring you all up to speed when I get started; it'll be a bit yet, I'm only in the idea phase of the project. Probably won't start  the actual production of this project until the end of Sept. or so.
Too, I am also in the closing stage of my very first house as well; and getting distraught over all the waiting and extra paperwork we've had to sign and more to come! I just want to move in already! We are so cramped for space, and now with winter coming soon, it just makes for less time to get things done! My kids rooms are my target areas too! I want them to be bright and bold, just like them! One girl, and one boy, in one room for a bit yet; so it'll be interesting for sure!
In response to the craziest thing I've ever done; I painted a tanning salon years ago, and we gave it an underwater seascape, and there was a soda machine in there, that stuck out like a sore thumb, so I painted that too! Just like the wall! It had seaweed and fish swimming all over it! Too cool! Sorry no pictures! That was before digital cameras and all this fancy computer stuff! You'll just have to use your creative imagination on that one! lol!!!!
Can't wait to get to know you all!

Hi, I'm Angie, I'm 21 and live in SD.  I have 2 daughters--Celia 3, and Daisy 1 oct 23!  I am also passionate about decorating.  I'm really into retro (mid-century) modern decor.  I love shopping at thrift stores and garage sales for unique treasures.  My husband and i have been living in this (our second) house for a little over a year now, but had Daisy right after we moved in, so we still have A LOT of work to do!  Celia's and Daisy's rooms are ever evolving, and i'm really excited to be starting the big playroom in the basement this winter!
