Hello everyone. I am officially homeschooling my DD for preschool (and possibly longer). I have been working on getting some plans in place and I have overwhelmed myself a bit. I do not plan to rigidly structure our day but I would like to plan some specific learning activities for us to do together during the week. I am thinking about combining a letter of the week curriculum with some thematic units. Does anyone know of a website with thematic unit activities appropriate for preschoolers that groups the units by months of the year? I am hoping to find a site that lists appropriate themes for the different months of the year to make it easier for me to work out my long range plan. Thank you in advance!
I feel like I could have written your post! I am a previous preschool and then special education teacher and i'm so concerned about doing it "right" that I'm not doing it at all! :( I know really bad but I want it to be perfect to start! And our days are all different bc of therapy and dr appts!
I know on the Confessions of A Homeschooler website you can purchase a full preschool cirriculum for $10. I think it's a letter of the week theme, but it covers all the basics and has a weekly lesson plan.
This site has a great letter of the week program going on right now called the Alphabet Parade. They have introduced the first 4 letters and do one each week. The site also has good tips for introducing children to the letters and other word and letter worksheets you might find helpful.
The site breaks most things down into one of eight developmental areas. So if you're looking for a loose structure, you could pick one developmental area a day and then use the kindergarten worksheets from that section. I did that last year with my son (he's 4 now) and it really worked well for us.
I tried to put all the links in here so hopefully that's helpful for you! :) All the resources on this website are totally free which I like. You can print as many of each worksheet as you want.
