looking for learning games for 3 year old

We already do alot of crafts with my 3 year old son.  I have found some interesting games by searching the internet but am always looking for more.  My son is not one for worksheets at least not at this point.  I am hoping to find a site like dltk.com but not just for crafts.

Even if there isn't a site you know of but just have some good ideas I am open to hear about them!

Thanks!

Susen

kinderwebgames.com has some online kids games. I think someone said fisherprice.com does also.

At home we are about to use a Twister mat to help work on colors. We aren't gonna do it the normal way just find fun ways to help her to learn them.

My 3 yr old is all over the place, so worksheets really don't work (and frustrate her).  Fingerpainting letters in pudding is always fun.  When the weather is nice, sidewalk chalk is awesome.  We go on "shape hunts" around the house - and she usually sees things I never would have noticed!  Beanbags are great!  Set up piles with different numbers of beanbags across the room.  Then say something like, "Run to the pile that has two beanbags." etc...seems simple, but they really love it!

Rebecca loves alphabet soup! We work on identifying letters and the sounds  they make, as well as words associated with those letters and sounds. She is learning her letters, having lunch, and fun all at the same time! Another mom mentioned shape hunts, and I agree, it is a blast!

Found a great website, and good idea for teaching kids 2-3 how to spell their name while having fun! Check it out:

I've used everything from Battleship (counting) to chuttes & Ladders. I also took foamie sheets and cut them into 1 inch squares. On the squares i wrote letters , then blends, then digraphs. We put them together to make small words, for each word he makes he gets a point, if he gets more than 20 points he can get a sticker (although I usually give him the sticker anyway...lol)

egg cartons are great for counting/ sorting games!  We used them when I taught... have em sort items by shape, size or color into the sections of a carton.  Or use dry beans and put numbers on the spots then have them add the correct # of beans.

If you have a teacher store near you (I LOVE lakeshore learning... even when I lived very far from one) they have great games... and with a little creativity (if you are short on cash) you can make your own verson of most of their games!

You might want to think about Time4Learning.com, it's fantastic for the younger croud - all the lessons are set up like cartoon interactive games on the computer, and it's only like $20/month.

There is also LearningPlanet.com which is similar to time4learning and it costs $39.95/year.

Otherwise some of the great free websites I've used are as follows:

The Kids Page

Funschool at Kaboose

Gamequarium

Prongo

I made this to teach my dd about colors and matching colors. It worked! You could always add more colors to it
