I would say Chef Mickey's without a doubt, but you have little girls.  Are they into the princesses more than Mickey and Minnue?

Depends on which characters your kids like.  We went to 'Ohana and absolutely loved the food!  The characters are Lilo and Stitch, and Mickey and Pluto, and Mickey was really the only character we were interested in seeing, but we had fun meeting Lilo and Stitch too.  Keep in mind that Crystal Palace is the only place to meet Pooh and Friends, and that Cinderella's Royal Table and Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus in Epcot are princess-heavy.

there are many character meals - depending on which characters your kids like the best......you can go onto the disney site ...... www.disneyworld.com ........ and check out where they have what character or you can pick up the birnbaum official guide to disney world book (its about 15 I think) at your local book store......it has lots of info about the meals and everything else in the parks

the crystal palace is one of our favorites - with or without those characters........their buffet is top notch.......especially for a late lunch......you get all of the food they have for dinner at a lower lunchtime rate!

What a great question!! I would say it depends on what character you want to see. Every character meal we've been to has been good. We've always gone to Crystal Palace, but we are trying Chef Mickey in May 2010. We're also try 1900 Park Fare diner with Cinderella for the first time. We've been to Hollywood and Vine (Playhouse Disney Characters), CRT and Akershus to see the Princesses, Crystal Palace (Pooh and Friends) and Donald Safari Breakfast (Donald, Mickey and Minnie) for character meals. If you go to a breakfast the food is pretty much the same at all. Lunch and Diners are alittle different, so I would go to allears.net and look at the menus to see what food would be better for your family. Have fun!!!

Other than the characters, the other thing to think about is what type of service are you looking for.  On our last trip we did three meals.  The Crystal Palace for lunch, Chef Mickey's for breakfast, and O'Hana for breakfast.  The Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's were buffet style, and had a wonderful selection of foods, while O'Hana was served family style, and had a more limited menu. The food at all three were excellent.  If I were to pick my favorite based on characters, then Chef Mickey's would win.  If I picked my favorite meal based on service, then I'd pick O'hana.  It was really nice to have all your food brought right to your table.  Especially when you have little ones to deal with. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them, tho.  We had fun at all three.

My vote is for Chef Mickey's breakfast in the Contemporary. When we stay on site, we schedule a character breakfast for the day we leave. So far, we've dined at Cafe May in Carribbean Beach (Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto), Ohana in Polynesian (Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, Mickey), and Chef Mickey's in Contemporary (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto), and possibly one other that I don't recall right now.

Anyway, of all of them, Alyssa got the most time with the characters and had the most fun at Chef Mickey this past December. Each character came to see her no less than 3 times during our meal, and we capped it off with a monorail trip and quick "pop-in" at Magic Kingdom to see Santa.

If you're looking for the best character dining IN the park, then I would say the Garden Grill at the Land in Epcot. You'll see Chip N Dale, Pluto, and Mickey, and the food is delish! Plus
the characters stick around for quite a while, and visit your table at least twice, if you don't rush through the meal. AND, depending on when you go, you can sometimes get in without reservations!
