I am in the market for a new camera to take on our trip this year. We currently have a Nikkon Coolpix L100 http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Coolpix-L100-Vibration-Reduction/dp/B001PK8FHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328230782&sr=8-1 which is a great camera but its big and bulky and I was miserable carring it last time for 6 days.
I am looking for a small point and shoot that I can just throw in my purse. I dont really want to spend more then $200 as our other camera was pretty pricey. If you could tell me what kind you have and if it takes reg batteries or a battery pack and maybe show me a pic from it?
Thanks ladies!
I picked up a Sony Bloggie for my pocket, because I use an SLR most of the time. I LOVE it for daylight, outdoors photos. It's absolutely FANTASTIC for HD video.
It absolutely sucks if there is anything less than perfect natural light, though. It does NOT have a flash, so if lighting isn't perfect, forget it. I also dislike that to charge it, I have to have access to a USB. The battery is not removeable. Plus side, though, the usb port is right on the camera.
My other point and shoot is an Olympus something-or-other, but it's big. It's like a small SLR in shape. Gorgeous photos, but NOT a pocket cam.
Here is a photo from my Bloggie:

Here's one from my Olympus:

For our small camera we have this Canon... its about the width of a quarter. It takes 2 AA's. Not bad at all..
I bring 2 cameras my Nikon DSLR is for my photo sessions for posed moments, usually at the resort, then to the parks I bring a point and shoot Olympus that is waterproof, shock proof, and shoots video. Haing the video was a god send now that I don't have to carry the video camera around. I am a photographer, so I hate to leave the DSLR behind, even though my Olympus could easily do what I need. I love having the waterproof camera at the parks, never having to worry about getting the camera wet.

What model is your olympus? I would love a waterproof camera since we are driving and plan on a few pit stops at a few different beaches along the coast.

Hi Sorry I didn't get back to you alot sooner, my Olympus is a little bit of a older model now but it is an Olympus Tough 6000.
OK, I know this is more then your budget, but we just got back from DL. We are in the same boat as you, we have a Cannon EOS 50D SLR with a L lens that we did not want to lug around. We picked this one up just before we left, it also takes amazing videos.
Here are a few shots we took with it:
