big changes for FASTPASS

Some big changes are expected to be implemented at all FASTPASS attractions next month. Starting March 7 2012, it is expected that the FASTPASS return windows will now be actively enforced, with a 5 minute early arrival and 15 minute late arrival to be allowed. Anyone arriving outside of those times will not be allowed entry to the attraction. The new validity windows will be required for the future roll-out of more advanced NextGen FASTPASS systems, which will require much tighter control of FASTPASS entry than what the current system offers.

The current FASTPASS system does not allow early arrivial times, but does allow late arrivals up to the end of the day. Many guests make use of the late arrival tolerance with the current system, so the new enforcement will be a significant impact to those guest's park touring plans.

what do you think about this?

I heard this awhile ago and posted about it but everyone was skeptical.

I hope they do it. It screws up the fast pass line when people don't come back during their time because of a show or parade or whatever reason. I've been too many times when the fp line was 20-30 minutes long. This will help with that.

I hope they have an electronic machine that takes the FP.  People will be throwing fits.  sigh.

I'm sure they will, but it's not like they'll have a valid argument since the rules as to how the fp works are right on it.
I'm with you! I hope Disney sticks to it and doesn't let people talk their way around it.
The only time I'm ok with taking fast passes after the time is if the ride was temporarily shut down during their window.

I agree, ride shut downs should be the only reason to enter beyond the time listed.  But it currently is listed that it is only available for 1 hour.  ALL Cast members have to follow the same rule, or it will not work.

oooh I don't like that change! we used ours later about half the time because there just wasn't enough to do in that area to kill the time and we really wanted to maximize park time. it was never really busy in the FP line like so many coming back at the same time, so i really don't see a problem or how it will improve things at all.

Trust me, I've seen the fast pass line so long sometimes that the cast members have flat out told me "it's gonna be a 30 minute wait...I would come back in a little bit"...the rules need to be enforced to avoid that.
