On my last day down, I won't have any park tickets left, but my flight does not leave until 8pm. My FIL lives about an hour away, and suggested getting together to do something- that way, I don't have to take Magical Express at 2pm (seriously, 2pm for an 8pm flight)- he can drop me off at the airport at 6:30.
Any suggestions for non-theme park attractions that we can hit in Orlando that can be done in a few hours? No kids, just 2 adults going.
I'm not really sure. Shopping is ALWAYS good. I'm going to be at Disney for 6 days, so I'm thinking I may be ready for something smaller, and quieter than Disney at that point ;)
We both love food. We're both museum buffs. He's not up for thrills like us "youngsters" as he said.
But I love the outlet malls in Orlando! There are 2 huge ones!
My husband and I did a few things on International Drive on our honeymoon ... Ripley's Odditorium is pretty interesting, and we also went to Wonderworks (I think that's where I got to lay on a bed of nails). Cirque du Soliel's La Nouba shows in Downtown Disney (we LOVED that .. got last minute tickets but still had great seats .. and the bucket of beer wasn't bad either!) There was also a place nearby that had a go-kart course, it was HUGE and a lot of fun for not a lot of money.
For shopping, we went to Pointe Orlando, a big shopping area with restaurants and stuff. I remember getting a really good lunch at a place there our first day .. years before that trip we stumbled upon the Mercado "shopping village" (as someone there referred to it as) ... it was great at night (music, lights, really beautiful!)
the outlet malls are pretty awesome, and there is supposed to be a Tupperware museum that is actually interesting, believe it or not. I've never been, but have friends who have.
Awesome! Thank you all for your tips :)
My husband is on the phone with him right now and FIL asked how I'd like Universal. Um, yes! :) Wouldn't be a full day, but it would be fun :)
He has been to rippley's before- my son spent the summer down there 2 summers ago, and that was big on my son's list of stuff to do. Oddly, even when he was offered Disney, my son said no. He was 11 at the time. I was like SERIOUSLY?!?!?
Quoting elasmimi:the outlet malls are pretty awesome, and there is supposed to be a Tupperware museum that is actually interesting, believe it or not. I've never been, but have friends who have.
I would love to go the Tupperware Musuem. I know...I probably sound really boring. lol
