  • Apple-glazed turkey is a snap to make and a delight to eat. A sweet glaze with a touch of heat, that takes just a minute to make, is brushed on the turkey just before it's removed from the oven.

    Ingredients

    • 1-12 pound turkey
    • ½ cup apple jelly
    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ¼-½ teaspoon ground red pepper
    • ½ teaspoon salt

    Cooking Instructions

    1.  Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Remove giblets and neck from cavity. Place giblets and neck (not the liver) in the roasting pan. Place rack in pan and put turkey on rack.
    2. Roast turkey until the skin is browned, about 2½ -3 hours. Tent turkey with aluminum foil. Continue to roast until temperature in thickest part of thigh is 175 degrees F., about ½ hour more.
    3. In a small pot, melt apple jelly. Stir in cinnamon and pepper to mix. Brush turkey with apple glaze and broil 4 inches from heating element about 3 minutes, until browned and bubbly.
    4. Remove turkey from oven, tent loosely with aluminum foil, and let rest 30 minutes before carving.

    Substitution(s)

    • Instead of using a rack, cut 2 onions into ½-inch slice and place in bottom of roasting pan. Place turkey on top of onion slices

  •  I'm not sure how many in the group like Collard Greens. But here is my recipe. And I get so many compliments on this. I swear, I get asked all the time to make them for everyone.

    And its easy!

Depending on the size of your Crowd, Will depend on how many Bunches you will need of Greens.

I am going to go by a 8 Person Dinner.

You can add or take a way depending on the size of your family.

    Whats needed:

5 Nice size Bunches of Collard Greens, Can be found in the Veggie Department. Make sure they are not Wilted or Brown. They should be Firm and Crisp.

    2 Large Onion's

2 whole Ham shanks ( Sometimes I add 3 ) Or you can use Bacon, Or Smoked Pork

    6 tsp Season Salt

    4 tsp Garlic powder

2 tsp Mrs Dash ( regular one )

And about 1 1/2 cups Apple Cider Vinegar

Take the Green's, Wash them well.

Then Chop into bite size pieces

    Cut onion into small pieces

in a fry Pan if using Bacon, Cut it up into small pieces and fry it until almost done.

If you are using Smoked Pork or Ham Shank, You can just add it to the pot with the greens, It will cook with them.

Place greens and Onion into a BIG POT. And then add the rest of the ingredients

Then, After you add all the ingredients, Fill the rest of the pot up with Water, Leaving about 3 inches at the top.

Cook uncovered. On low. And cook for about, two hours. Checking often to see if the greens are Tender.

I often cook them on Low, for about 4 hours. But that's because I like mine to be cooked through, and I swear it makes them taste better.

If you like Callord Greens you will LOVE these.

And if you have never tried them, You really should. They are AWSOME. Even my Kids love them.
