I had my first one at home, planned with Doc. 2nd at hosp, (doc left to be missionary), 3rd hosp, 4th hosp, 5th Homebirth w/midwife, 6th homebirth w/midwife... I LOVED my homebirth experiences. Was I nervous? Not really. Watchfull? Of course. Did it hurt? Of course! I had all with NO painkillers, including one that was induced. But which ones were the most comfortable? HOMEBIRTH! Hands down! Would have done ALL at home if there had been a attendant available. And NO I am not a hippie or a hippie wanna be. Just a natural mom! JUST HANG ONTO THE THOUGHT THAT "THIS TOO SHALL PASS". Really...this can't last forever! : )

Both of my births were at home, but I must say that friends who have told me how victimized they felt with various interference & devices and how poorly treated they felt definitely confirmed my decision to birth at home.Especially the ones who saw someone for months for prenatals and then had to deliver with a stranger b/c their person was suddenly unavailable.  My best friend got stuck with all the blood pressure machine/monitoring stuff and she hated it.Come to think of it , my own mother was the first women to tell me of bad hospital birth experience and how awful it was.OMG I actually listened to my mother:)

Thank you, I am awaiting labor for my first homebirth. My DD was a hospital natural birth and a look forward to all the differences, plus DD was born in the States and I now live in Germany and health care is so different!
