My sister is a midwife. Before I even found out I was preg I knew I wanted a homebirth. It was all I thought about for months. My BP started going up around 30 weeks. My sister ended up referring me to the clinic at 34 week bc my BP hadn't came down. At that point I knew that homebirth was no longer an option for me, which of course hurt. So I started immedietly planning a natural hospital birth. I had discussed still being able to walk at the hospital, delayed cord cutting, etc and the hospital was fine with my decisions. At 36 weeks my BP went up a lot (170/115) . Something in my body told me something wasn't right. I asked to be induced. The clinic refused. At 38 weeks I had a placental abruption. Had to be taken by ambulance and my daughter was delivered via csection 4 mins after getting to the labor and delivery floor. She was born weighing 5 lbs 8 oz and had lost weight in the womb due to the high bp and placenta problem. I was completely out when my daughter was born and didn't see her for hours. I thank god my daughter is safe, dont get me wrong. But, I never got to experience labor. Not even one contraction. I feel cheated especially since my body knew something was wrong and I asked for help. Did anyone elses planned homebirth not go as expected? How did you feel about it?
Thank you. Yes, she had me doing everything to try to get the BP down it just wasnt working. Garlic helped when it first started going up at 28 weeks but it just got to where nothing helped and it started getting worse and worse.
