Is Kitty leaving her kid for good?

I was confused by when she left her child with that lady. I mean she told her sister she was leaving and didnt know how long, that it was "open ended". But she leaves her kid behind?

And she looked really tore up about it too. Like it wasnt just a temporary thing.

i have no clue. i've missed a few episodes and only caught some of last weeks so i was confused. didnt she say she was visiting roberts other kids...was that his ex? hulu.com here i come! lol
