Darwinism?  I don't believe this theory, but people have a right to freedom of speech.  We all don't have to agree with other people's opinions and beliefs.  We are all individuals and most of us use our brain, and common sense to decide what is right and wrong in our lives.  I believe that God is the creator of all that exists.

I agree with you completely. However if the problem is that they are forcing the teaching of darwinism in schools now. Teachers must teach about that but they are NOT allowed to teach the other side of it which is creationism (that God or an intelligent higher being created us and the world. That is exactly what this film is all about. The right to our opinions in schools. Scientist's who do not believe in evolution and who believe that God is our creator are being fired from their jobs or being told that they must teach about evolution even if they don't believe it. That is just wrong in my opinion. Darwinism is a theory only not a fact. So the opposite ideas of darwinism which is creationism should also be allowed to be discussed in the classrooms as well so that students can hear both sides and decide for themselves which one they believe to be true.

Do not know about the movie enough to make a comment.  But the idea that Darwinism and Planned Parrenthood and Hitler are all related is ludicris!!!!
Hitler who was a Supremist in its extreme form.  He was against not only Jews but anyone who believed in a Supreme Being like Catholics, Protestants, and Muslims.  He just was unable to get rid of everyone so he was careful what he did to those of the Christian persuasion and hope to change their minds to go along with his ideas.  He also got rid of gypsys and anyone who was disabled and mentally and emotionally ill.  How this relates to Planned Parrenthood is strange.  Darwin said we are evolved in a way that is different from creationism.  Creationism stems from the biblical storn of how the world was created and came into being.  That also has no relation to Planned Parrenthood.

Planned Parrenthood is essentionally a family planning organization that has over the years tried to help females not have anything other then safe sex for reasons of health.  Abortions are the thing their enemies go after ofcourse but is only a very small part of what they try to do.  If it was not for some of their lobbying in Congress we woud not have the sale of condoms and meds that keep not only unwanted children from being born but females from getting deathly ill from STDS.  Part of the reason females no longer are banned from society because the are unmarried and have chosen to keep their children are because of work PP has done.  Also where there were schools where they did not allow children of unwed mothers to go to school and even get proper medical care for mothers and children were with their help.  WIC and such other things would not exist.
I could go on but this is not a PP commercial.

After reading about Intelligent Design on the internet in the Wikkeppedia encyclopedia-it is evidently some sort of theroy by some Christians that have their own scientific explanation for why and how our planet came into being.

Personally I think that this is a thing that we will never really understand, and can come up with all sorts of theories to match what we want to believe.

We DO know that bones of creatures have been found that are supposed to have been the forefathers and mothers of todays creatures-animal, vegatable and human.

With all the things to worry about today from health to economics to war I think this is not a subject I would spend too much time on.  Ofourse that is just my idea.

I must be totally honest with you. I am not quite sure where all the hitler stuff came from. Maybe I missed that part. And planned parenthood does ENCOURAGE the girls who come there that abortion is a safe and good option which it is not!!! They never go into informative detail as to what actually happens during an abortion or the after effects of one on their bodies and their emotional aspects. So that I do have a problem with and I know this because when I was younger I went to them. With that being said... of course there are other things to worry about BUT for me being a Christian... the way we became to exist and how this earth was made and all the things in it is a very important issue especially when it is in the very first chapter of the Bible in Genesis. If it wasn't important as you put it then it would not be the very first part of the Bible. However, I am not sure what your beliefs are or your religion is so I guess I should not be making assumptions as to what you believe or not. So, if I am I apologize. I just wanted to respond to your post. I happen to think this film is great and a long time coming. It is about time the public knew what was REALLY going on behind the scenes in the schools and classrooms and the fear that professors go through. I don't think it is fair for them to be threatened or lose their jobs because they believe that God created the world and us.

I happen to be a Conservative Jew but my beliefs in what is in the Bible are my own.

Many Jews believe that whatever is in the Bible happened exactly as it states.  Other believe other things about the way the Bible was written.

I think this movie is a good idea because it gives people another perspective.  Also its great for a discussion!laura

Thank you for sharing--that was absolutely awesome to watch! Someone so important willing to take a stand!!!!!
Newt Gingricht [sp] is trying to produce a movie [documentary]walking around DC and showing people the principles and beliefs on which our country was originally founded. Refuting all those right wingers who fight to remove "In God We Trust" from our money and delete "One nation under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. Woo-Hoo!! Way to go guys--we are behind you ALL the way!

I'd like to share with you why I feel that evolution is a beautiful theory.

Evolution requires just four things: Heredity, Variation, Selection and Mutation.  ANY system that has these four properties WILL evolve, whether it is computers or animals.

HEREDITY - This is basically the observation that children tend to take after their parents.  They tend to have similar skin colour, eye colour, hair colour, facial features, etc.  Horse breeders and dog breeders have know about this for a very long time, but it was only really systematised in the 1800s when an Austrian priest named Gregor Mendel started experimenting around with peas.  What Mendel discovered was that the ratio in which different traits get passed onto children can be explained if we assume that how the child looks (its phenotype) is determined by genes passed on by both parents (its genotype) and that how the two genes are expressed (one from the father, one from the mother) depends on whether they are dominant or recessive.  For instance, if "b" stands for the gene for blue eyes and "B" stands for the gene for brown eyes, and two parents each of whom have "Bb" have children, you'd expect each child to have a 1 in 4 chance of having blue eyes, because the possible combinations are "BB", "Bb", "bB" and "bb" but only the genotype "bb" results in a phenotype of blue eyes, because B is dominant and b is recessive.

We know nowdays that in animals these genes are stored as sequences of amino acids on long chains of DNA that get passed in sperm by males and in eggs by females, and can even use microscopes to look at it.  But the basic idea of generations and certain characteristics of children being inherited from their parents is a very general one, and appears in many non-biological systems.

VARIATION - The second requirement for evolution is that not all the individuals in a population be identical.  For instance, if everyone in a population had blue eyes then there would be no sub-groups that could compete against each other, in that particular trait.

SELECTION - If all the individuals in a generation survive and have the same number of children there is no competition.  For evolution to occur there needs to be a mechanism by which genes can influence the selection of how many copies of that gene survive to the next generation.  The most widely known such mechanisms in the animal kingdom are survival of the fittest (if a particular gene makes you more likely to die before you reach adulthood, then you are less likely to have children and so less likely to pass on that gene to another generation) and survival of the sexiest (if you have lots of potential mates wanting to feed you or bear your children, you are likely to have more children than if they all hate you and won't have sex with you).  Less widely known in humans, but very important in some other species, is altruism.  If you don't have children yourself, but help your blood relatives have children, that still helps your genes get passed onto the next generation because on average you share 50% of your genes with your siblings, 25% with first cousins, etc.

These first three properties: Heredity, Variation and Selection are enough to cause basic evolution.  It is observable, testable and even (under controlled circumstances) mathematically provable that this happens.  People have observed a particular species of moth in a city and noted down each year how many of them have dark coloured wings and how many have light coloured wings.   They noticed that as the city got more poluted and all the stone buildings turned black with grime, the gene for dark wings became more numerous in the moth population.  When clean air legislation was passed and the buildings were scrubbed pristine white, the reverse happened.  Within just a few years, most moths had light coloured wings.  Why?  Because the birds could now see the dark wings against the white background, ate more of the dark winged moths, leaving the light winged moth population free to breed and grow.

Intelligent Design does not disagree with any of that.  They accept that basic evolution happens, and that it does not require the supernatural to explain how populations vary to suit their environment.  But now we come to the last of the properties

MUTATION - This is a scary word.  Horror movies are full of misshapen half human monstrosities caused by unstoppable radiation, dangerous chemicals or mad scientists.  So I'm sorry to say, but I've found out that you, the person reading this text, are a mutant.  The police will be around shortly to take you away.  Hide!  Feel shame!

No, seriously, mutation happens all the time.  it is a natural process.  There are a lot of genes in the human genome and so, even though the chance of any one particular gene mutating is low, the chances are that you have several mutations.  We all do.  Every human born (unless you are an identical twin) is unique.  And it is not just individual genes changing.  People get infected with viruses which can transmit genetic information.  Transcription errors can move whole sections and put them in the wrong place.  People (fairly rarely, but it happens) can end up with whole additional chromosomes.  You can even, through symbiosis, get whole new creatures being added into your cells (mitochondria and chloroplasts started off that way).

Without mutation, evolution could alter the number of blue or brown eyes in the population but it could never create something new like green eyes.  Or create eyes in the first place.

And this is where Intelligent Design cowers before the glory of God.  They say "I don't believe that God has the power to have created this wonderful mechanism, set it going and have it just work.  God is like an incompetant mechanic who has to keep fiddling with his engine to keep it going.".  Men and women of faith, since the time of Darwin and including Darwin himself, have been stunned by the power and beauty of God's design.  How incredibly grand, to have let the dinosaurs evolve and then let them pass away when circumstances change.  How wonderous it is to grasp that men and apes share a common ancestor, and so do men and trees and fish and butterflys - what scope of mind could have planned that?  How great is God!

The thought of being told that God's a faker, that he laid out all this vast evidence of the evolution of species but really he cheated and did it by hand - it drives me to tears.  What loving parent would do that?  The ability to systematically explore God's mind (what we call "reality") through this process that we call science is a magnificent gift.  It has given us so much and I'm sure we've received yet but the least part of the banquet He has planned.

Evolution may be beautiful to see from a physical perspective, but that doesn't change my belief that God created all things that are good, and the devil created all things that are evil and immoral.
