I recently met a woman who's had it rough since her marriage 13 years ago.  She was being oppressed by her husband, physically and sexually abused.  The man proclaims he's a Mormon and that the wife should be submissive to everything the husband wants.  I DON"T THINK SO!  They had 4 beautiful girls, which have been back and forth through custody battles.  The guy has kidnapped the girls several times.  He's an executive so therefore, has money to buy everyone with $$$$.  The dad keeps moving often without considering what's best for the girls.  From CA to TX, now the guy wants to move to SC when they just settled here in TX 4 months ago.  The kids live half the time wtih mom and half with dad.  The girls absolutely hate being with the dad because he's abusive, shows no love towards them, and has remarried and now has a stepson.  This woman is very lost as far as what religion to go with.  She knows she does not want to go back to being a Mormon.  I've invited her to join a church retreat and my other friend has asked her to her to her Baptist church.  We're trying to help her as she has no one here (but us two).  Her family is all in Virginia.  I ask for prayers for her.  She needs all the guidance and peace at this time in her life.  Please pray for her.

Having children, and being married to an abusive man must be one of the hardest experiences anyone can go through.  We are living in times where marriage has become life threatening to some women.  Women really have to choose carefully these days who they decide to marry, and start a family with.  Some men think that just because a woman chooses to be their wife, they are now their possession.  I don't find this fair.  Women are not things, we are people with feelings.  We marry because we want to commit to one person, commitment is different from owning something.

It's discouraging what some married couples go through.  Stress, and miscommunication may be factors in bad marriages.  It really scares me to be married now in days.  It takes a long time to really know someone, and sometimes people change also, once they're married.  I believe that forgiveness, communication, and understanding are essential in a marriage.  Children who are involved in their parents' difficult marriage are often the ones who suffer most.  They become traumatized, and emotionally unstable.

Whatever religion the woman chooses, I hope it's one that involves God.  God to me is the One spiritual being that helps us all during the most difficult times in our life.

My prayers go out to that woman, and hopefully she finds some peace, and the support she needs to be a decent parent to her children.
