So heres the story i am a mom of 2 kids 15 and 10 yrs old and now im 19 weeks pregnant with my third. And i was overweight when i got pregnant. I have literally not been sick once my whole pregnancy. But at last months check up i was 4 pounds under my prepreggo weight. Dr had a fit and threaten bedrest or hospital admittance if tommorrows appointment i havent gained. Ive been way too scared to touch a scale but my coworkers say my face arms and legs have drastically gotten smaller. Not to mention for the last week i have a pain sorta like how a bruised bone feels i guess where my pubic bones are. Gets to where walking and sitting are bothersome. Should i be worried or is all of this normal.
Live life to fullest. You only get one chance!!
We are kind of in a similair spot. I on the other hand have been gaining weight but I have been having bad pains in the pubic bone area as well. I have to lay down and put a pillow between my legs and lay on my side to make it ease up. About losing weight though my sister-in-law is over weight and when she got pregnant she always lost weight and the doctor told her that as long as the baby was gaining then it was fine. Every doctor is different though.
I've known a few women who said they lost weight during pregnancy. So long as the baby is growing fine, then they were told they were ok... so long as it's not a drastically huge loss of weight. I can't imagine a doctor being that freaked out by you losing weight if you were overweight to begin with... unless, like I said, that you are losing a LOT of weight FAST...
Did you gain weight and then lose a bunch in a short period of time? Ask him if the baby's gaining weight despite your losing weight.
As for the pain... I had that with my first child and was overweight. Now I'm starting a second pregnancy at an even heavier weight and I'm having a bit of that pain at times with this one too... so I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it's terribly painful and hinders you from your daily routine. Then I would mention something.
Be sure to always ask "Why" anytime the doc makes a decision in your care (such as bedrest, etc.) so that you can understand and ask further questions if necessary.
Good luck and keep us posted.
