Hi! I'm so glad to have found this group today! It really does help to know I'm not the only one dealing with this issue! I'm a 28 year old stay at home mom with a three year old son, my first child by the way, who was diagnosed this April 2007 with PDD-NOS. Being the only one in the family so far, it's been tough having people understand what we're going through and being supportive of the interventions I want to try (GFCF, Feingold, probiotics, etc.). He currently attends a special pre-school called the Fred S. Keller school, which specializes in the CABAS approach (ABA) and he's doing well there.
I do need some help with some things. First, since he's an only child, he doesn't really socialize with his peers. I used to take him to a play place thinking he'd begin to socialize, but he's just prefer to play by himself. When kids his age approach him, he tends to look through them or ignore them. He's working on socialization in the school, but I want to supplement that. Does anyone know of any play centers that specialize in helping kids with socialization issues?
Secondly, my kid is really picky! The only veggies he eats are sweet potatoes and lately he's boycotting rice and pasta occasionaly. Any ideas on how to get a picky eater to try new things?
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you guys and getting to know all of you and your families. Take care and have a great day!

Welcome to the group. We are in Los Angeles, so hopefully someone in your state would have some resources to share.
I had a book called Just Take a Bite that is suitable for your sons age group. Here is a review I did of it with some examples. I sold it a few years ago. My son has been getting feeding therapy for many years now. You can check with a nearby childrens hospital to see if this type of therapy is offered there.
