If you are not on www.twitter.com I suggest checking it out.  Here is a list of the autism connections on there - http://autismfamily.tumblr.com

I am planning an autism twitter day in mid December, not finalized on date.  I just issued a request on HARO = help a reporter out - http://www.helpareporterout.com

seeking products to give away as prizes.  The emphasis is to spend 4-6 hours, all depends on the number of prizes received, to promote positive autism awarensss and to have quizes and questions that get posted and then rewarded with prizes.

I thought this would be a good way to bring about some positive awareness and at the same time get families to receive some items this holiday season.

Twitter is a microblogging site, has 140 characters to type something in, meet people, network, respond to tweets, etc.  Here is my page to check it out

http://www.twitter.com/autismfamily

their search is a great way to find all sorts of specific conversations or people who have same interests. There are also hashtags to be used for events like #autismtwitterday

I use autism daily at http://www.summize.com

I am letting you know now so you have time to get used to the site.  No referrals there, but they have ways to make money - my blog has a banner  - http://autismfamiily.blogspot.com

If you have a product, are an author, have a blog, sell at etsy, ebay, cafepress - this is a good way to meet new clients and set up feeds, etc.

Hope to see you there, and feel free to let me know your ID there.  Can list them here and questions on the twitter autism day and the site twitter.  I will try to check more often, homeschooling means son uses computer often during the day.

  • I  have some gift brochures that might be nice. Some are inexpensive and families could choose what they wanted from them. Just an idea for prizes.not a solicitation.

Here is my site (I am a new seller)

    http://svincent4.ordermygift.com

There are Klutz. gift booklets, for about $25, the variety booklet has more adult/teen things for the same amt.

Are you looking for more ideas for prizes?

On my Cafe Mom page there are numerous links of shopping sites. Autism coach has a nice thermometer that shows kids how to dress for the temp.

Gift cert to catalogs (Speech/OT/educational) again links on my page.

What a WONDERFUL idea! It might be a good time to educate people about autism..and gifting/holidays...usually people do not know what to say/do/buy   for our kids.

I hope you endever is a SUCCESS!

  • Thanks for your reply and I will check out your site.  I am looking for free items to have sent directly to the winners during the event.

I got responses from a good variety of companies and agents but still looking for more to cover the time slot and all age groups and interests.  I am looking for books for kids, DVDs and also CDS for those on the spectrum.

I am trying to reach out and let this event be known to various autism communities to see if anyone has their own business or runs a zazzle, cafepress, etsy or ebay store to donate an autism awareness product, and to also let Moms know about twitter so they can join and be part of the event.
