Hi,
My name is Julie, I started a food pantry called the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Palmyra, NJ in Aug. 2009. On Aug. 20th it will be the Pantries 2nd Birthday . Every year we do 2 fundraisers, in April we do a Fashion Show/Dinner/Dance/ Auction/dancing (with a live band) $40pp and one without the Fashion Show. In Sept. we do family/affordable fundraiser and that cost $25 like Beef N (root) Beer, 3 local bands $5 to get in food extra/ auction/ 50/50, this sept. we're doing a Riversharks Baseball Game/Buffet in the Dimond Club room /50/50 /Auction and 2 donation bukets around the stadium, my problem is, of course we were new, in the beginning people wanted to come, although the room held 300 people only 150 came (ok) then as we had our other fundraisers less & less people wanted to support us. We put up flyers in towns, in our newsletters, we have a fb page, a website, we sat at township festivales and handed out info., 13 churches support the Pantry and we've sent them e-mails and flyers but the churches do not want to be bothered with the fundraisers anymore. We do get donations of food and money but who knowes how long that will last so we haveto make the money some how. What can we do to get our numbers up for our fundrsaisers?.
Keep up the good work. After 3 years of helping our local food pantry org. with their auction (that was always very successful but needed to increase attendance also), we think we may have hit on a formula to make it even better because people had fun.
Here's the article I put together about it. Keep up the good work!
